My wife's 2005 Outback 2.5 XT pops a P0011 and P0021 code, with CE and cruise flashing, frequently. Of course it's a PITA 'cause the cruise goes off
and she has to use her foot. The oil was just changed within the last month, 3500 miles. It seems the oil is the usual problem but it isn't low.
I usually change the oil and filter myself around 7000K, per owners manual. I've read somewhere that I can go to a larger filter. Would this
help? If so what size?

Not to freak you out but that code is usually due to a few things - most commonly the turbo dying as the vf40's in your car are ticking timebombs.

Camshaft Position A- Timing over advance or performance (http://www.subaruforester.org/vbulletin/#) (Bank1 Bank2)

Causes:

1.Dirty avcs banjo filter as these get clogged and drop oil pressure!
2.Low or dirty motor oil (subaru does that as a fix if you bring it into the dealer
3.Blocked oil passage
4.Timing belthttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/2_bing.gif (http://www.subaruforester.org/vbulletin/#) misalignment
5.Failed AVCS solenoid

Feel free to troubleshoot but it can be a nasty code.

not to add to the worry but 04wagoons fiance has an 05FXT and at 35k miles the turbo desintigrated and chewed up the engine. luckily it was still under SOA's warranty.. but the CELs were similar.
