ok.. so prepare for another vague and confusing attempt at explaining car trouble!

on the way home this morning after some.... spirited cornering, I could hear a loud rubbing/dragging noise from my rear drivers side wheel. I got out, and the general area looked clear/nothing obvious. I started driving and did some "test swerving" and the rear end felt lighter and strange... but the sound went away after some more swerves.. it still felt light so I thought perhaps I somehow disconnected/broke my tiny RSB. when I got home, I stuck my head under as best as I could and nothing appeared broken. nor was anything strange looking or out of place.. the wheel still feels solid. so I dont THINK its the wheel bearing. but..

also, the last few months after even the most polite driving Ive been having a smell of burning.. more of a rubbery smell. I dont drip any fluids. so Im wondering if its either connected to this mystery issue, or perhaps I just have something touching/on my exhaust..

aaaany help is obviously appreciated.. Im going to bed, so have at it! when I get up and head to work I'll do a sit-rep and see if it still feels/sounds wrong and update when I get to work..

Rear trailing arm bushing.

Also, with rear left on subes, it can be any of several more things to check over than the rest of the car will not ever gain a problem with.

I have even attacked structure with a mig...left rear only...
it starts with years of hot exahust, driving alone, and physics of runtime, all boxers.. it loves the left side. Hardly a phenomona to subes, it is on alot of American machines too... I go back years to my first encounter with it. subes have it unusual only in that the exhaust is most often left side, gas tank shifted right as well.

even the dually exhaust subes have it cramming down the left. :unamused:

UPDATE!

no noise or vibration or anything out of the ordinary on the way to work so.. um.. I dunno? :iam:

pull your rusty rear rotors off, and take a hammer and punch, and whack the backing plate in good where it is rubbing your rotor. :) you should see it.
