I like to record the old sube, but did not get my trip yesterday. As I mentioned in another thread, I was behind a prius scooting right along..the car gets a magic point in the throttle around 84mph... the prius seemed exactly correct to stay with..maybe it is the little engines healm with 87 octane.. who knows.
anyway, we encountered a police car...everyone is bottlenecked at the sight of it, creeping along at 65.
well, the old sube with big tread needs fourth gear at that speed.
Finally the cop takes the median in a pursuit, I am in fourth in the slow lane.
slowly traffic is winding up.. I need to take the car to 3600 in fourth to get max torque (2850) in fifth. It is nerdy to say out loud, silent routine. Note the car sound quite casual at those rpms, as alot of us boxer drivers know.
So I am back to 75, still no scream from the engine, with this car load of people in another car right next to me... I casually slipped into fifth and looked over at them looking at me.. they caught onto the final drive casually so at 75 mph. The assumption that it was going to go by no doubt a thought of the driver... so slipped off into the horizon again at 3500 rpm and 85mph...prius ahead of me. I forget sometimes what it is to be in the tiniest of cars freighted. Even the smallest sube is casually bigger...
