it's slightly variable hours, with everyone rotating either one day or one week with the late shift, so i think regular is 7-4:30 or something like that, with the late shift being 8-5:30, but those are just guesses. It's full time 1st shift regardless.
No labcoat unfortunately. You get standard issue shop uniforms if you make it past the 3mo probationary period, kind of like mechanic clothes.
If you get your foot in the door on the ground level like this, you can find your way into Research and Development, or Applications Engineering like I did, where we wear labcoats and do top secret testing. :cool:
Note: i started at the company even below this position about 3 years ago as a temporary hire Material Handler driving a forklift and shoving around 400lb drums of raw materials. It's a small enough company that if you kick ass and take it seriously as I did, I was able to make a move over to running the shipping receiving operation position, and then got myself into the lab all in about 1.5 years. It's all up to you to make the best of it.

JOB TITLE: Compounding & Mill Operator
DEPARTMENT: Chemical Operations
REPORTS TO: Chemical Operations Production Supervisor
POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for following all procedures, SOP’s, work orders, and batch formulations for adhesive bulk materials. Safely operate the proper equipment required to convert raw materials and WIP into finish products to the highest quality standards. Assist in developing effective and safe manufacturing processes for adhesive products that achieve the company’s quality and our customer’s delivery requirements.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Operate all milling, mixing, and lifting equipment per SOP and work instructions.
2. Accurately measure, fill, seal, label, and process chemical ingredients using specific tools and equipment per instructions to produce adhesive products.
3. Follow SOP and formulations exactly and record correctly all required information legibly and accurately. Note any comments which my indicate quality concerns.
4. Safely operate process equipment only s instructed by supervisor, work instruction, or equipment manual.
5. Understand and follow safe handling procedures for all chemicals.
6. Maintain a clean, organized and safe work station. Spills of any product or raw material will not be tolerated.
7. Assist in development and continuous improvements of Adhesive Manufacturing SOP’s.
8. Follow and review all work instructions.
9. Review and follow all Job safety Analysis instructions.
10. Assist in development and continuous improvements of our 6’S program.
11. Maintain lot and material traceability throughout bulk adhesive process and finished packaging.
12. Using FIFO First in First out. Using oldest lot number first.
13. Record all inventory transactions in location and weighed amount as required on work orders.
14. Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: High school graduate or equivalent. Work experience in material processing required. Good Math Skills Required.
