As you know, I recently added the following items under the hood:

- Perrin TMIC replaced STi TMIC
- Samco turbo inlet replaced stock inlet
- AEM cold air intake replaced stock intake
- installed turbo blanket and Grimmspeed AOS

I replaced the TMIC first and I immediately noticed an improvement in throttle reponse. This makes sense as the Perrin has less pressure drop through it.

I then replaced the stock turbo inlet with the Samco, and maybe I felt a difference in throttle response (but maybe I didn't), in any case it was not significant like the TMIC.

Last week, I installed the AEM CAI and that too made a difference in throttle response, and some improvement in the higher RPMs as well.

Today, I returned to EFI Logics for a retune and here are the results - I gained 20 WHP but lost 16 ft./lbs. of torque at peak. Here is the dyno graph (http://www.efilogics.com/dyno/graph.php?gb=0&hp=1&torque=1&boost=1&rpm=1&sl=1&sln=1&runid1=511&rgb1=000000255&runid2=866&rgb2=204000000) that tells the whole story;

Even though I lost 16 ft./lbs. of torque at the 3300 RPM peak, I gained torque from 3500 RPM all the way to redline, where I was up 23 ft./lbs.

WHP gain began at 3700 RPM and opened up by 5000 RPM for the 20 WHP gain at redline.

Maximum boost went from 19.3 to 20.2 at 3300 RPM and from 14.3 to 16.6 at redline.

Injectors are maxed out at 98%, but A/F ratio is maintained at around 11:1. I could gain a bit more with bigger injectors, but I won't do that until (or if) I upgrade the turbo.

With the revised throttle mapping that Chris uploaded last year in combination with these hardware upgrades and new tune, the car is really a pleasure to drive. Power delivery is smooth and very manageable. In all honesty, it feels much stronger than the dyno numbers indicate.

So I think I will drive it and enjoy it for now, until I decide to do the polka or something...

Is there any concern with running injectors at 98% capacity?

Nice numbers!!

Chris is the man :)

Yes and no - some stock cars tend to run up that high with a rich AFR.

With an aftermarket fuel pump not so much. I see the car start to go lean at high rpms at 107+% IMO.

Alot of people think that 100%=100% open all of the time, but not so much - you would need to calculate it by pulse width.

by looking at your mods, i can't figure out what could have made your car slightly laggier? Is it the larger perrin core? Did your tuner mention what caused the loss in torque? Did he have reduce timing in that area?

If it isn't a timing issue (which I can't comment on not being a tuner) it could definitely be a system characteristic.

What you'd really want to look at is the pressure vs flow chart that coincides with that dyno graph (which sadly no one produces!)

It's definitely possible that, while decreasing your effective restriction size/area wise, there are other more static factors that can cause a greater pressure drop at lower flow rates (lower RPM)

It can be seen clearly by looking closely at the pressure graph. For example, the volume between his compressor outlet and his pressure sensor may have increased significantly with these new modifications, meaning as the system progresses forward the pressure in that system builds farther forward in the curve, however the restriction in the system is less, therefore the total pressure drop is less once the compressor is going.

All in all, it looks to me like he has much more torque in much better places. Nice run!

If it was a timing thing though... well then I have no clue!

The Perrin TMIC made a very noticeable improvement in pre-boost throttle response due to less pressure drop through it. Due to its much larger volume, I would think that boost will start a little later too.

Overall, the car runs much better and stronger at the top with this tune. In fact, I made my first pass down the 1320 and with a bogged launch (2.18 second 60' time), I ended with with a 13.42 at 104.4 MPH.

I am in the process of installing an Aquamist water/meth injection system and will get re-tuned for that. I think the curves will be shifting back to the left with a gain on the right side too.
