Without doing the math, I'm right around 215-220k.

I've developed a whine under the hood that could either be the PS pump (which I'll ignore until it fails) or the small timing belt idler (which I will not ignore.)

Money's stupid tight these days so I'm hoping on the PS pump  Although, it is about time for timing belt #3.

Hmm. Hopefully its not the idler. Tbelt #3 can wait a bit. And 215-220k makes me oddly happy in the pants. High mileage is triumphant!

I whore out that pic as much as I can. I't been my favorite setup to date (the BBS with the lip)

Come summer, ideally I'll have the same look but on 18x8's with the sedan front. Ideally.

Hell yea man. I've been taking my time cleaning them up. Sanding etc. I'm not sure how I want to attack the lips, either the home version or send them out.

Hope those gauges last you a long time! Your car's coming along for sure.

Long day yesterday. There's a garage at my apartment but I'm not supposed to use it. SO I started my timing belt outside since the skies were nice and clear albeit a touch windy.

Then the snow started :unamused:

Then the cam gears wouldn't stay lined up

So my buddy came over and we pushed it half way into the garage and finished up the timing belt. She's onto belt number three, along with new idlers. I checked out the water pump for any signs of weeping and there were none so I left it alone.

Today was my first oil change with the Fumoto valve installed. Let me say this. If you don't have one, go buy one.

Drop the drip tray under the oil pan.

Flip the lever.

All the oil neatly pours out of the pan.

Unscrew the old filter, fill the new filter and install.

Close the valve, fill the motor and you're off!

Back from combattives, damn are my muscles sore...

Go on....

Psychoreo
03-17-2012, 08:49 PM
Go on....

It started with splitters from Subarugenuineparts.com

Then two Phillips HIR1 9011 bulbs from Amazon (pricey but Daniel Stern says they're the way to go.)

Then put a bid on something from a secret website in the land of the rising sun (we'll see how this one goes)

Then put a bid on another something from a secret website in the land of the rising sun (we'll see how this one also goes).

Speaking of Daniel Stern, if anyone wants to know everything there is to know about automotive lighting, visit http://www.danielsternlighting.com/ or email the guy. I asked for a recommendation for lights and he gave me more information than I could shake a stick at, as well as the recommendation.

I would've thought it was just some marketing thing as he sells bulbs, but he also recommended bulbs that he doesn't sell and told me the cheapest places to find the damn things (the 9011's).

Again, small changes that should make a decent difference. Now off to take before and after shots of my low beams!

Even that core is too big for my lowly td-04

So I just put in Narva Rangepower +50 low beams. They're a little more expensive at $15.50ea but they seem to be worth it. Here's a comparison to these vs the bulbs I've had previously:

Narva Rangepower(1750 lumens, 340 life hours)
Nokya blue things(1380 lumens, 225 life hours)
Sylvania Silverstars(1380 lumens, 225 life hours)
Standard Sylvania's(1407 lumens, 335 life hours)

Can't wait to see what the 9011 high beams will do!

Stock: 9005, 12.8V, 65W, 1700 lumens, 320 hours
New: 9011, 12.8V, 65W, 2530 lumens, 320 hours

I took pictures but it's a camera phone at night. They all look the same. In person, there is a very obvious difference!!

Narva Rangepowers are in and aimed. These things are leaps and bounds better than any other bulb I've used. If your car uses an H1 bulb, you want these. I also deactivated the DRL's so these things will last longer.

Also:

"Retrofitted" 9011 bulbs into my high beam spots, these things are like daylight! For those of you that have no idea what I'm talking about, many of our cars use 9005 bulbs for the high beam. 9011 HIR (not HID) bulbs are brighter, have the same filament geometry, and last just as long. All you have to do is trim one of the tabs and VOILA! It fits.

They look awesome despite all the dirt!

A nice spring detail is coming next.

Also, if anyone is interested in Redline Goods (http://www.redlinegoods.com/cgi-bin/uam/x.cgi?a=r&id=1&aid=776) items, use that link and I can get you a discount. (Let me know if I have to remove this since I'm not a vendor..)

The fit and finish on the items is outstanding. The arm rest cover also has two ways to install it. The lazy way (pictured above) which you just unscrew the bottom plate and stretch the cover over (it has a nice elastic edge), or you can glue and clamp it like stock. I'll be doing the glue/clamp method to get it extra tight next week sometime so I can compare the two.

im planning on a short shifter boot and an ebrake boot, red stitching like u did. Looks good.

So did you ship off your boot to redline? or did you glue it yourself? was it hard to do if you did?

You order it straight off the site. He'll ship you the boots in a padded envelope and you install them on the car. There's install instructions on the website and it's very easy (just be careful when removing the metal clip things so you don't break the plastic nubs, you'll see what I'm talking about.)

For the ebrake boot, take off more of those clips, up the boot over the nubs and find where the pins would poke through, cut a small hole with a knife (more like poke a hole) and slip it on. Then just replace the clips and you're good.

You don't have to glue any of them (there's no glue in the above pic) just the clips. Glue will allow you to get everything tighter however.

The instructions on the redline site show you how to glue it if you want, and tell you what type to use. It's an option, especially if you break the little plastic pegs holding the boots on. If you don't break the pegs, glue isn't really needed on the shifter.

Headed to Worcester last Wednesday and picked up a non-fmic-trimmed front bumper, in psm, for free. Win.

Swapped the bumpers Saturday and recleared my headlights. For anyone who has cloudy headlights, follow the steps I showed earlier in the thread and use some spray paint clear coat. It makes all the difference in the world.

Pics to come when the rain stops.

Bingo.

Wetsand x3 (1000, 1500, 2000)

Polish with plastic polish.

Spray clear coat (I did two coats. make sure to let it dry nicely between coats and any additional coats should be LIGHT or it will drip.)
