Welcome!
All subarus have a slight tick.
You should hear mine :hide:
If you're genuinly concerned take it to a repair shop ;)

I prefer to call it a "slight manifestation"....
Subarus make noise, even mine does and its less then a year old. Course that could be from the N1.....
Also, welcome to the site!

If it is a slight tick it is normal...every Subaru I have owned has done it.

You are fine! If you hear a knock then you have an issue!

When inquired about a ticking noise I was told it was the shims in the engine and that you could here then in all subarus. BTW welcome abord
Thanks for the help I figured it wasn't anything major because it runs so well

Welcome aboard. And as already stated completely normal unless it's setting off a knock sensor.

subes make noise?
no way. I have no clue what you are talking about.
the old ones had nearly solid lifters, they tapped to a giant trochoid pump while reliefs stayed open...as warm up approached they got quiet.
today its injection. as things warm up, they make noise, fuel thins.:unamused:
it is safe to say in the sube world: if it is ticking it is working.
I did also take not the bigger fours (2.2 and onward) they got a very audible tick at full warm.
the oil system is quite gentle today. the bypass does not smash things around.
there is double the amount of valves and a double fire.. another chance for unique noise.
as mentioned.. listen for the engine fail thuds and outright knocks. little ticks is nothing.

ticks are usually the injectors.
