I was happily using Mobil 93 on Rt 236 near I95 (near Kittery), but they just changed their stickers to 91. I talked with the owner and they said Mobil is pulling 93 octane from Maine.

Normally I wouldn't really care much about this, and just deal, except I'm getting my car pro-tuned on Friday @ synaptic3, so I need to quickly find a new favorite gas station in Southern Maine/NH.

Too bad 93 is going away but I'm glad I found out before I had it tuned, lol.

I've heard that most of the stations in Maine are phasing out 93??

I go to Rt 4 Shell in Northwood, if you come down Rt 4 from maine/portsmouth to route 43/107 to get to synaptic you can hit it before you get there, i/my car really like shell gas its getting 26 mpg, and used to get 23/24 on other gas places gas..

The gas station works for me......Get used to the 91 in maine. I was tuned for 93 and had to constantly go to dover for it. I had to bite the bullet and get tuned for 91....LAME!

communists... Im so glad I only spent 9 months living in maine. everything was like Ma.-expensive. drove me crazy...

I try to stick to shell for my gas. I used to SWEAR by haffners because it was always the cheapest, but theres not one near where I live now, so Ive kinda switched up.

Ick 91 sucks. As for brand, I used to stick with Irving, as I always had awesome luck with it in my Civic, and the mileage was always good. After running it in the Subi for a while, I randomly decided to try Shell one day per a friend's suggestion. The difference was quickly noticeable so now I swear by it. And it's really not THAT much more expensive, plus depending on what Shell station you go to, they give random discounts for buying 93.

subes being subes..
even my old one likes shell, or citgo.

irving last choice, unless it is in the north (I think cold ground saves something)
I tend to avoid mobil..like their oil.

13 years of wandering around...
even the ea series little engines liked 93...or better yet, no labels of mtbe or %ethanol (those days are goners too!)
To this day, I live with a ping lugging, with more air than suby never fed it. retard timing, advance, bigger coil blah blah blah...

this is the fourth change since 87 for an old sube. Imagine if it was a rockhead design?.. would not run normal ever again.:o

thank your lucky sube stars.

at least a bonus for injection is a gadget or two to feel it out and change.

I talked with the owner and they said Mobil is pulling 93 octane from Maine.LIES ALL LIES...dude is yanking UR chain to sell U the Cuprinol water proofing that used to be 93 in his tank... or whatever it is. There is NO, None, zero, bupkiss, bagel 93 octane in Maine unless U go to an airport of specialty station that still has it: very few and far between.. There are however DOZENS of gas stations with 93 stickers stil on their pump and claiming to still have 93... keeping in mind that a gasoline tanker truck with 93 octane DOES NOT stop in this state to fill a pump..

Don't trust me? Ask the internal organs of two deadbolt turbochargers that are now smeared all over my old catted pipe.

Like Justin I HAD to have my car tuned to a conservative 340 HP with lowered boost to deal with the liquid **** they have the sack to call gasoline up here... When I bought my car and started modding it 93 octane was EVEYWHERE... now we get 10% ethanol and 10% gulf coast seawater...

I live in a world of pre-ignition, potential pinging, pulled timing and my exhaust smelling like an international house of pancakes courtesy of the syrup they call fuel up here...

At least my car is tuned to no longer self destruct....

ps: Don't even think about using airplane fuel for better octane, it is mixture is different and contains a defoaming agent to deal with the bumps of traveling through the sky. Its "gravity" is also different to help cope with the changing altitudes of an aircraft and the effects it will have on oxygen content in the fuel.....

I would have it tuned to 91, just ask anyone the issues I had with my turbocharger NOT performing at all and eventually self-mutilating under the influence of bad gasoline

Where in SNH are you regularly traveling? I always fill up in Stratham. I can get Shell for the same price as any other station in the Stratham/ Exeter area and well I avoid Irving like the plague. Mobile is second choice and I'll wait for another exit or only put like 1-2 gallons if I'm 100% needing gas to get me to a Shell. Seriously! You'd be surprised how finicky the SVX is. :-/ I try to always fill with 93 but then again it's a 16 year old car and though not as old as Boxer3Maine's it's still something I try to keep a watch on.
I vote tune for the 91. Who knows how long before you can't get 93 at all. I know in Cali I won't get any higher outside for track pumps.

Oh I'm planning on tuning for 91. As far as what I thought was 93 actually being 91, based on how my car is running since I switched to the 91 map, I wouldn't even be slightly surprised. I'll give shell a go for the tuning. Thanks guys.

I go to Portsmouth BJ's as well. There is like 3-4 gas station that I can think of at the top of my head that has 93 in Portmouth.

Sunoco. The one in Littleton runs a special every weekend. 93 for the price of 89. Something to keep in mind if you're up my way and need to gas up.

Right. Still doesn't make it cheaper than buying gas in southern NH, but at least it saves a little.

I think the Mobil across from KTP has it :)

EXPENSIVE

Cross over Rte one and go to the truck stop. Cheapest 93 in NH. No lie.

I was running 91 on a COBB stage 2, 93 octane tune for a loooong time before I went to Bren and got tuned for 91. My car is much happier now. Sucks that I could get a lot more out of my car if I were tuned for 93 but I don't feel like going to NH everytime I need to fill up.
