Hey guys, just wondering if any of you either
A) work for John Hancock or
B) have worked for / worked with John Hancock
If so, what were your experiences? I've been offered a job as a Customer Service Rep, and although not the best paying position, is something to get my foot in the door into the business world, coming for five year retail.

I don't know what John Hancock is, but a career with "John Handcock" sounds likes a miserable lonely one.

i only know about people that did sales there.. or at least attempted to
1) they do not pay u during training
2) they do not pay for ur books
3) the test is NOT easy to sell insurance. it is easy to get a chance to take the test
4) afterwards, they dont give u any leads and just give u a phone book to get customers
5) pay is like 95% or 100% commision, no base, at least not survivable
i dont know what kind of position you are looking at (you mentioned customer service, which can either mean sales or just answering questions). be sure to ask if ur pay is commision based, who pays for training, how much u get paid during training, who pays for books for training, what is their ave turn over in staff, how many people stay longer than 6 months, longer than a year....
if u want a chance to sell insurance/stocks, i would encourage you to look at edward jones, metlife, or amex. all 3 have very strong training programs as well as good benefits and track records
