Couldn't figure out if this should go here in NH Seacoast or General Banter so here it is:
As many, if not all, of you know I am a member of the United States Military. Not only does this make me better then you in countless ways, but it also provides me benifits beyond your wildest dreams. One of these such benifits is access to the Armed Forces Vacation Club. Consider it like expedia, orbitz, travelocity, but elite in magical wish granting ways.
It provides us Military members with sweet deals on Vacation Lodging. Once such sweet deal is the following. Don't get lost on me.
I am able to rent out a 2 Bedroom Condo style lodging that can sleep 8 maximum (max allowed by the resort) at Smugglers Notch in Vermont during the week of Jan 27th - Feb 3rd. Which Condo floor plan it is up in the air, but the following is what can be expected:
A bed for everyone. Usually there is a master queen sized bed able to sleep two, plus two more additional queen sized beds (one being a fold out couch and the other a regular bed), plus two twin sized beds. Add that all together and 8 people can sleep there. The two twin sized beds and one of the queen sized beds is typically in the same room together.
Also included is a full kitchen. A full dining room/tv room (one big open space). Typically some sort of deck, and in the case of a upstairs/downstairs condo floor plan there are two decks. Yea I said it, two decks. It could be a ski up, ski out, condo or just one that is a couple minutes walking distance to the lodge. Some have a gas fire place and some don't. All have wireless internet however it is a pay for service and not included. Pots, pans, dishes all included to use (and if not its paper and plastic for this guy). Washer and Dryer in the unit as well.
What is the cost of this you say? Well it's just $400 for the entire week. $400 per person? No, that's $400 split between all the guests. It would be in my name, and I would be shelling out the money towards the stay as well as security deposit. You would pay me however much the split cost would come to be, plus whatever we would get charged after they inspect the place (which will be nothing or I start cutting a finger off of each guest for every $5 we are charged).
The catch is that it's that week or not at all because that's all that's left. In addition, I don't know how long this is open for so if I don't get a total of 8 people (7+me=8) in time and we lose it then that's it. But really there is no loss on your end because until I have 7 confirmed I won't book the condo.
In addition, we all don't have to stay there all 7 days since that's a long time. I can check in whenever and check out whenever, the cost stays the same. No less, no more. So if we went from Monday-Friday to save on lift tickets then the price would still be $400 for the group.
Skiing would be available at Smugglers Notch as well as Stowe which is 15 minutes down the road and for the adventerous Jays Peak which is about an hour north give or take.
Lift tickets, food and everything else is not included, just the condo. But with a full kitchen and a supermarket nearby food costs would be way down since you'd never have to eat at a restaurant. More then likely we'd cook dinner all together and have a family type gathering. Breakfest and lunch would also be easily made and cheap.
So this is what I would need from people. A guarantee that you'd go. That is really it. No half-ass "i think i can go, not sure, i call dibs until i find out" ****. You can go, or you can't. If you say you go and then bail at the last minute, or even a month in advance, expect to pay your share ($400 divided by however many people are going or $50-$100) or find someone that I approve to take your spot. Don't like it? Thinking about stiffing me on the cash? Think again. I know at least half of the cops in the Seacoast area, and probably about 1/3 of the cops in the state of NH. I just need your license plate to make your life ****ty.
Don't want to ski in a big group? You don't have to. Go do what you want, where you want and when you want. You simply pay to sleep there. Obviously it'd be better for people to hang out together, eat some meals together and drink some booze at night together. But if you want to venture off to Jays Peak by yourself or with a buddy, go right ahead. Your parents coming to the mountain for the day and you want to go ski with them, it's your life pal, live it up.
I think you all get the idea. O yea, there will probably be two bathrooms (master and a regular) but possibly only one. Most show a Whirlpool style tub too which is pretty kickass.
So leave me some posts here and share your thoughts. If you are really interested say so and I will contact you some way as soon as possible with my own expectations when it comes to cleanliness and so forth.
Finally if you don't like my rules about living the week in the condo then screw off because I'm the one who makes the deal work, with out me you have nothing. But really, my rules are simple, keep the place clean, neat and don't break, scratch or otherwise **** something up or it'll be your money in my pocket when the resort tells me they're taking the security deposit.
