i have a 2003 outback sport, N/A 2.5
my MIL came on a few days ago on my way to work. when i got there, i scanned it, and came up with P0519. i read a dirty idle air control valve often causes this code, so i removed the valve, sprayed it down with TB cleaner, sprayed the TB down with TB cleaner both where the valve goes and by the throttle plate, and reinstalled the valve. everything was fine.
that is, until last night. MIL came on again, and the next stop light i came to, the engine almost stalled when i went into neutral. i havent scanned the code, but i can only assume it is the IAC code again, due to the idle issue.
now, before i go buying a $300 part, is there a better way to clean the valve than just spraying it down good with TB cleaner? or is it possible that there is a short to ground or voltage somewhere? unfortunately Alldata is 0 help with this code. they dont even actually list it as a possible code.
