OK after about a year of research on this subject with several different websites I am totally freaking confused. This is what I am looking for & maybe you can help me choose. :spin::dunno:
My struts are dead because I had Tein H-techs on the stock struts I loved the way the car handled & was okay with the drop as long as it didn't interfere, or put a strain on the other suspension components. I did not like hitting the bump stop every time due to not enough recoil in the strut, or the ride over the frost heaves. These were big issues for me especially having the family in the car.
That being said I will never Track my car, nor do I like the slammed look. What I do care about is handling, ride comfort, reliability, quality, & not having to constantly play with the settings to get the ride correct for the season. What I mean about the setting statement is directed towards coil-overs & having too constantly rebuild them or having to constantly dial them in because I cant find the correct setting for the season. I am no expert so I don't know what would be better 3 clicks up front 4 clicks in rear, etc. I don't however mind changing the settings between seasons but I only want to do this one time per season, and I want it to be the correct setting the first time.
This brings me to another point, we all know how bad the winter pot holes get around here. With me being on the Volunteer Fire Department I need something that will be dependable & stand up to some minor pot hole abuse.
The last thing I left out is cost. This plays a big factor in everyones decision. I don't mind spending some $$$ for a quality product that will last 4 or 5 years. I also don't need to buy the Bugatti Veyron of struts or coil-overs either.
Current installed on the car is Rallitek endlinks F&R, AVO rear sway bar w/re-enforced brackets. Stock springs & struts, & stock front sway bar. Summer tires 215/40/18, Rim 18in 8.0 45mm off set. Winter tires 215/45/17 stock rims.
My max budget for struts or coil-overs including replacing the front control arm bushing & LCA bushing is $2000 dollars. This does not include the installation price which I figure is about $500 dollars minus the alignment.
I am looking for your honest suggestions (Wagon Specific) of things that have worked for you & your friends & things that haven't. I do not want things you think would be good because you read about it. Chances are I also read the same thing you did. I am looking to make this leap in the next month so your input is vital.
Thanks,
