no real major things. just make sure proper maintenence was done and if its getting towards 100k miles things like the water pump, timing belt and pulleys, and thermostat have been replaced.

Just do a few mods, exhaust, intake and possibly upgrade the turbo nothing too big.

Yeah there's a lot to look out for. Mainly look for all the signs that a moron might've owned the car you're looking at. Because like any decent performing vehicle (but this is particularly noticeable in the subaru community)or enthusiast vehicle, many morons buy them due to acclaim, and improperly modify and maintain them...
Check for modifications, check for headgasket weep, make sure the car boosts properly, and that the dccd works correctly, things of that nature. They're not unreliable cars, the can just be easily ruined.

get a compression test, and make sure it drives good. that should tell you all you need to know.

*Focus, and the full coverage is whats the killer. :spin:
You should buy my 09 once i find a Forester XT. cheaper to insure, under the radar, and gobs of power.

Thankfully, the majority of subarus tend to be very reliable as long as they are maintained and modded correctly. I can't say anything about longevity though, i don't keep cars for a long enough. :hide:

realistically, I wish I had looked into joining forums and getting involved with people who've been around before I bought my rex, I feel like I got a great deal on mine, but still it would have been nice to know everything or close to everything before buying.

Welcome! There are definitely a bunch of knowledgeable people on here, so don't hesitate to ask questions. Make sure you do a ton of research, and get it checked out by someone who knows what they're looking for, before you buy it.

welcome to nes! just so ya know, doing an intake, turboback and tune along with a nice set of sway bars Im sure youll be happy. Im sure youll be happy stock. Upgrading turbos isnt a little thing. It requires more supporting mods and tuning. Goodluck!

Welcome aboard! As stated before. Have the car checked out and find out the history. Check out a few cars and maybe look into a WRX. Especially if you might upgrade the turbo anyways. Just remember to map out all the differences on all options between years and trim levels.

Like your "09'" 2008 WRX. LOL All good since all that's getting torn out and replaced. Shoulda hung out with this cool guy more after HS huh?
Give some of the dealers on here a call as well. I'm currently working with Jim at Belknap, and they guy knows his stuff. plus he is a gearhead like the rest of us, so he wont be commenting on how its got 4 cupholders, and sweet vanity mirrors.

Belknap, Exeter, and Manchester. Great people to work with but then again I'm not familiar with any Mass dealers
