they cut off your cornia, flip it upside down and laser it back on.
Then they run a laser over your eye to smooth it out.
Oh, and you're awake the whole time.
ENJOY!

There is no pain involved, it takes a whole 30 seconds from when they open your eyelids to the finishing the procedure. And its not like you see a guy with a blade cutting your eye.
Both my parents have had it done and one of my brothers. Im not worried.

LasikMD is US and Canada, same company. But its 4k here and under 2k there. Plus this company specializes in lasik, they aren't merrimack vision which do these once a month. They are the most experinced in north America.

My wife did it and has never looked back!
After you get the procedure done you have to wear these blinders that do not allow you to see. You have to stay like that for 24 hours I think. The next morning when she woke up she pulled the blinders off and could see perfect! she said it was amazing and does not miss contacts at all. :)

My eyes were at 80% about 6 hours after. I could see individual leaves on trees, so i knew it was better! The morning after is when i felt good and actually walked around without the shades i had to wear.
The actual operation was a very different feeling, your eyes are open the entire time, obviously... And they put a retainer on your lids to keep it this way. The most difficult part was when the doctor put a suction tool over the pupil to cut the layer of cornea!
It literally felt like someone was using a powertool or dremel around the eye. It wasnt painful but, the amount of pressure being used was enough to be felt on my neck against the table. Just after the surgery my eyes were throbbing, it felt like they were burning up and just pulsing in my head. I had 3 different eye drops to put in, one for antiswelling, disinfectant and gel drop to keep the eyes wet.
48hrs later i feel great and keep finding myself reaching for non existant glasses. Its a different feeling, but i am really liking it!

only word of advice I can give is have one eye done at a time and wait for it to heal before you get the other one done

Why not meg??
I have heard that some people need to get reading glasses after, and in time your eyes can change back???? is this true??

I went with a wavefront advanced lasik, it cost more money but it has a lifetime warranty. From what i understand some people lose 100% over 30-40 years.
Others if you are older the effects are quicker. My father has had it now for 10years and still says its 100%. Then again he needs reading glasses since the operation.
Reading isnt a challenge for me, things i noticed since the operation.
-Adjusting from far distance to a book takes a few seconds
-Night vision has gone down ALOT, as in night driving really sucked this first week
-Red blood spots on the eyes, very noticeable
All of this is normal after the operation. They will heal and go back to normal.

i priced out lasik MD a while ago too, only reason i didn't do it at the time is that you gotta keep heading back up to canada for checkups and whatnot.
congrats! one of these days i'll be getting it done too :)

Well, you dont have to. The warranty is legit so long as you go to any eye specialist for a checkup yearly for first 5 years. After that your warranty is gauranteed.
Everyone does have to get to their checup up in montreal though within a month. Im going back on 15th for a checkup and ill be good.
