Hey all - sorry for being so quiet in my section, we have been traveling and doing a ton of BMW's.

Tonight I got to baseline my favorite bolt on turbo, the 3" (with anti surge ports) 8cm HTA green. This car is going on the dyno for tuning Saturday but I wanted to work out all the bugs prior and complete all the driveability testing.

Mods:

2004 STi
Built shortblock
07 STi heads w/ 272 cams and springs
2010 Oil pump
HTA Green
DW 850's w/ walbro
Blow thru MAF
Forge BOV and UNOs controller
Typhoon intake and 3" inlet
Full turboback exhaust

Problems we've found so far:

Forge BOV only has 20lb spring, needs washers to hold the boost we want to run
Plugs are shot
Filter is disgusting
Couple boost leaks at the blow thru maf area

Safe baseline notes:

21 psi tapering to 19.5
Reworked AVCS
10.7 AFR
Conservative timing

I will update the thread with the final numbers from the dyno and any thoughts/impressions

How do you like tuning the blow through maf setups?

car sounds strong, can't wait to see the final results once the problems are fixed and everythings touched up

It has it's pros and cons, for those that need their BOV fix, this is needed :D

For this type of setup I'd prefer a pull through big maf. This customer has a i/c pipe all set up for it so we just went with it.

We'll see what she's got once the BOV holds. Thing lets go past 20psi no matter what peak target it immediately falls back.

How many lb/min is the HTA Green? I had on og Green (49lb) on my STI back in the day and that was a great street turbo

We will run it in 4th on the dyno so the spool should move back a good 500 rpms. We'll see :)

First pass same map as this file was 372whp (airboy/virtual was 369 above)

Finished at 396whp/395tq, same boost. Playing with the AVCS due to the cams netted a great gain of power!!!!! Graphs soon.

Ask Big D how fast it is!

Update!

Newsflash: airboy/virtual tends to read very close to PSi!

Fresh off the street (quick tune), down to the same number

So 394whp and 396Tq ended up being the final numbers? On how many lbs of boost??? Did you gus change out the BPV?? Like you said looks to be a very nice streetable turbo and pulls nicely :)

Yes, I left the customer with two maps

386whp and 385tq @ 22 psi
394whp and 396tq @ 23 psi

We ended up just adding washers to the Forge BOV. The powerband peaking to 7k is incredible. I love the HTA Green in 3" 8cm form.

The things holding the car back at this level are the exhaust, ebay barely bellmouthed downpipe and the borla hush baffled catback. Along with the ebay FMIC. We also got the car close to max safe duty cycle with the injectors so he is going to upgrade the rails and injectors and regulator.

is this stixxx's car?

What PSI does the FP Green want to be at on this set up if the supporting mods warrented it?

Great info Bren...

Thanks for breaking it down a little deeper in detail for me.

The Forge is the 100% recirc I'm assuming???

And same question that Chad justed asked below??

It's 100% atmosphere as he had it setup as blow-thru.

This is not stixx's car - this car is owned by a nasioc member. :) I believe Meyagi did stixx's car.

Supporting mods depends on capable fuel for more boost, proper cooling, and whether it's a stock or built motor with a different compression ratio. This turbo made more power with increased boost, however the setup was at a reliability standstill at this level on pump gas. Sure there was more in it, but not that I was comfortable with.
