i'm sure if you check out nasioc, someone has posted a template somewhere. i would check there, or contact a dealer and see if they might be able to help you find one.
if you dont mind me asking, where did you get the spoiler? i want one sooo bad!

Drill holes.
Robk0000
12-19-2007, 04:21 PM
if you drill in the wrong spot. Cover it with duct tape.
Robk0000
12-19-2007, 04:23 PM
just kidding, really you have to make a template of how its mounting, so get a piece of wax paper for cooking and lay it flat on the ground. Then place the spoiler on top, pull tightly and tape the wax paper to the spoiler, now flip it over, find the holes and mark them with a perm maker. and you have a template. from there i think you need to drill holes.
Robk0000
12-19-2007, 04:24 PM
Also before drilling, make sure you dont drill into any wires.

yeah, i was just wondering where she bought it, and maybe how much. i was thinking she might have found one used or really cheap. i dont feel like going and paying full amount on one. i'd really like to find a full trunk with lip on it, so i can switch it on and off with the wrx wing.

i got it for a present... my hubby bought it through his dealership... he paid full price, and then got it painted for me to match the color of my car.

It can't be too hard. mark it out with a tape measure and double check it.
I'll be getting one in wrb when ever I'm done with the power and suspension stuff on my car.

I'll help. Just would need to know what you got with it. I know the one you can get offline comes with a template and the hardware.

i understand the idea of it, i guess what im looking for is what kind of drill? what bit? i guess i just need to know if i can use a cordless with a bit that fits the screw or do i need a special drill?~sneaky~
Nate8409
12-19-2007, 09:19 PM
normal drill bit. Something sharp and high speed. What does the screw/bolts look like? Hard to tell you the size without seeing the screw or knowing the size. You can test on some piece of junk laying around. Just drill holes with different bits until the screw/bolt fits like you like it then just use that bit.
Probably 6 or 8mm bolts. like 6x1 or 8x1 sooooooooooo if it is six it woulf be a 1/4 inch bit and if it was 8 then likeeee 3/8. Eh?

should be instructions from factory bought material in the box that should include required material and installation instructions...unless they dont want you to mess.

hope so, the only problem is that ryan loses everything so if it was in the box, it is missing now!

if you are asking what kind of a drill, and bit you need, please dont do this diy. you will be disappointed.
I love when i get a call from a friend that says they burnt half the bathroom down because they werent familiar with electricity, so they call the expert...people that dont know how to use tools, or that dont have common sense, need to stay away from tools. Especially powertools.

judging from what you said in the previous post, it sounded like you had absolutely NO CLUE what a drill was, because. you asked what kind of drill youn needed. Im sorry that ticked you off, but That was the stupidest question i have heard in a LONNNNNG time, and i had to jump on it.

I definately put my cash on Sarah.
She just asked if you needed a special drill bit Robbb. Actually as for special drill bit the best would be a self centering bit. I hate regular drill bits. Wish I had a set of centering ones.
Spamming people is more like a Nasioc thing and ususally happens cause the person does not search.

dude, if you want a sneak peak at nasioc, jsut look at drifto III, that was AWESOME!
I would use a Uni bit in this case.
btw: i guess what im looking for is what kind of drill? what bit two different things. :)

Robk0000
12-20-2007, 06:41 PM
universal bit, also known as a step bit, its 1 bit that has like 10 different sizes, they are pretty expensive, $45 each. They work Great for metals. always has a clean cut too. picture for ya.

Honestly, installing spoilers without a template is a *****. I did it on my car, after two hours of measuring every angle possible, we drilled (while sweating profusely) the holes and managed to only be off by like a 1/16". I would recommend having the stealership do it, or prepare for at least a few hours. Also, make sure to waterproof all the holes with RTV or silicone before bolting in!
Robk0000
12-20-2007, 07:02 PM
dude when i got my spoiler mounted, they used this black silicone ****, that stuff was allover the trunk, and it smeared. I tried cutting excess off and cleaning, NOPE. still smudged, hate that crap whatever it is.

are you planing on tracking the car? not to sound like an ass, but if you're only looking to get a wrx engine at most, and you're not tracking the car, the brembos wouldn't be a good buy.

i dont plan on it... i just have a lot of money to burn and i love the brembos, soooo thats what i is doing!!! cool with u??? i dont want to have to have a reason to get what i want... i want this car to be whatever i want no matter what it would or wouldnt make better or worse in someone elses eyes, i love the car and i think that u r correct with saying that brembos are a little extreme for what i am doing.. im just spoiled.. ~bounce~

Robk0000
01-04-2008, 10:23 PM
oh and crossmember
Nate8409
01-04-2008, 11:04 PM
The harness wont do you much good so forget about that. You will likely need to go to a standalone CPU. It is the best option anyway. Then I could get you a short harness and the crossmember from local salvage
Robk0000
01-04-2008, 11:11 PM
define standalone cpu...I thoughgt that if i got your motor i could use the wiring harness that is for the motor? or are we talking about seperate things.
Nate8409
01-05-2008, 12:26 AM
Like an Element Hydra(wish I had one)...You still need some kind of ecu to control other engine functions such as boost control solenoid. An N/A ecu can't handle all the extra functions. I can't think of others right now but off the top of my head all you need is the boost control solenoid and related maps on the ecu such as duty cycle and stuff.
Kevin
01-05-2008, 06:44 AM
you can get a wrx ecu but that's were all the wiring sucks. the hydra has a plug and play ecu I think for swaps. I would start looking in the swaps and conversions on nasioc. and even though your doing it yourself try emailing paul at eastcoastswappers he can help you out with more info.
Robk0000
01-05-2008, 11:10 AM
Oh i thought you were going to sell the ecu to me along with the motor, i see what you mean now. shoulda just called it an ecu. I figured those into my budget if i was to go without your ecu already, boostcontroller, fuel pump controller as for the boost controller, accesport will not work. I really like the accessport... :(
how much is the ecu from SOA? even worth it, lol.
Ill do some more shopping, im not in the market right now anyways. just getting small things right now.
