go over to nasioc and look in the engine management forum. They have a lot of info there about this stuff. I don't believe anyone's car here has water injection. You'd have to get a tune for it to take full advantage of it, maybe to even get it to work at all! Definitely do your research before purchasing.

Personally i would go with a DIy when it comes to coolant kits. This is similar to the Kryo kits, just using water or whatever you use, im sure you can gather all the materials for under $50 and install it yourself. Or if you want to install it so it sprays automatically you can buy a certain type of limting switch (possibly a 10 kilohm thyristor) that is activated when the pulse exceeds a certain pulse wave coming from the RPM wiring.
All you need is:
~Pump
~NO contact switch
~some hose and cool little 1/32" pipe that you bend to whatever shape you want.
~some wire
save the money and get a better product, your just going to pay more because, its a Kit.

What are the performance advantages to having a setup like this?

You need some type of controller though too. Something that will be getting a readout of RPM and/or boost to control the pulse or strength of the spray.
A real quality water injection is like the Aquamist systems. They use a high high pressure pump so the water will atomize and work right.

ted's(nhsilversti) car was running aquamist water injection for a little while before switching to meth. He semmed to like it. I think you need a tune for full results. I would just run meth. Ill be going with the aquamist basic kit in the future but its like 750.

personally i would go with a Co2 system, the pipes and fittings can be purchased at homedepot and you can go to any sports store to get the bottle filled, a 9oz bottle should last a good amount of time, and its like $1.99 to fill it up. this would only require pipe, a switch, solenoid valve and bottle.
Man i wish i had a turbo motor. Then i would have all this cool **** done already, lol.
I need a snail.

start talking to eastcoast swappers you might be able to pull off a wrx swap or something on the cheap with some hard work. the electrical part is the hardest and you have backround in that.other then that slapping a turbo on that motor just results in it blowing up. I had a freind try that on his 2000 rs before he did the wrx swap.
but for a turbo meth is handsdown better then c02. you can pick up a ton of tq with it. its like running on race gas all the time.

ive never been in a car with either so couldnt tell you what to expect, but id go diy, cause im like that.
Yeah im sure i can go to terrys shop and do the swap there, the electrical part wouldnt be to bad, i guess i would do that, and have the boys work on the mechanical aspects. If i get the motor im gonna need a tranny and rear diff Asap.
im thinking about $6000 for the swap and all expenses. I already have a need to buy/purchased/wishlist going. So gathering parts is already on the way.
:)
Rob, the kit we're talking about it water injection, not a kryo kit. The snow performance kit injects water directly into the intake charge, not onto the intercool like the STi water sprayer. It sounds like thats what your talking about anyway. It would take quite a bit of work to make a water injection DIY kit work right.

If i was going to diy it, it will shoot water on the press of a button, not rpm that would complicate the hell outa it. and yes, i was refering to the intercooler spray.

So i read some stuff regarding this on NASIOC and it seems that it is a touchy mod: if it isnt done right it could ****** your engine. Not sure if it is worth it. I have the urge for more power but im not sure what else to do that wont break the bank

thats why I'm going with the aquamist setup tons of failsafes and it is the best kit around. but your tuner is key too.

You find me a 3.9 Rear diff with a limited slip and I will hook you up with tons of parts. I am going to have nearly everthing you would want to do a WRX swap soon. Short engine, injectors, driveshaft, tranny and linkage. Turbo, manifold, downpipe. Friggin gaggle of stuff. And you can take all my parts and piece it together and have a cheap WRX swap instead of paying those guys to do it.
ive never been in a car with either so couldnt tell you what to expect, but id go diy, cause im like that.

Oh im doing it myself. with help of you guys of course.
I could probably steal your tranny, im sure it can handle a bit more power than my little pos with 115000 miles. But the engine, im going with a 2.5 turbo, it jsut has so much more balls!
Ill call you when the time is right.
Thanks Nate!
