I bought a universal cig lighter, its the one with a tab on the outside sleeve and a bronze tab on the inside piece. Which wires do I hook to each? Or is the outside sleeve self-grounding, in which cas what wire do I use for the inside tab or?

Hot wire always goes to the tip of the cig lighter. The other is a ground. Use the ground even if the housing is grounded already. That way, if it ever loosend up you wont have a bad ground.

The green wire is hot, right? Also which is the ground?

I cut and wired the green wire for power and then used the white with green stripe for ground. I hope its not constant and only turns on with the car on or acc.

Huh? Well, I seemed to get them to work, it comes on only when the car is on like it should, seems to work great.

SubyCrazy meant: are you lighting your butts with it?

The Aux cig lighters that you buy at the store are not meant to take the heat of an actual cigarette lighter.

Oh I don't smoke, I'm using it to charge my phone but the lighter I bought was for ciggs and came with that lighter popper.

You need to get yourself a simple 12v probe tester. You ground the tester then start checking wires in the area you want to plug into. You can cycle the key and the lights while you are probing to make sure you have a good wire. Since most cig lighter power plugs (cell phones, radar detectors) lower the voltage, the amp draw will be small. Best bet is to look for a thick wire though just to be safe.

I'll see if I can find a test light, I don't have many options for wiring back there unless I tap into the radio harness which might not be a bad idea? lol

Ok this is aggravating me, andyone know what color wires go to the lighter?

Haha I tapped into the ground and acc wire on the radio. Works a little too good, the lighter goes in and about 4 seconds later its glowing red hot haha. Hope that's not awkward?

What does the black wire with 2 grey stripes and black wire with 1 grey stripe go to? I think they blew my interior dome light fuse which I already replaced, lol... can you tell I didn't find a test light? Lol.
