wat r u using for a clutch? just the stock wrx one?
Kevin
01-05-2008, 06:44 PM
I would do the ebay ssac fmic.the perrin is not worth the extra $$$ and import image for the fuel pump I think there 69 or 79.
add the price of a tune to like 500-700 it is a hydra.
stay away from vivid I learned early when I got my 04 wrx they were awfull. go check out there review section on nasioc.

Can I help with the swap?
Robk0000
01-05-2008, 08:25 PM
Clutch will come with the motor most likely, if not ill go act or comp clutch. Ive read storys about my rear diff on nasioc. it will die...basically is what i found, give it about 6 months. lol So i guess im adding a rear diff as well. Anyone know if the wiring is different for the wrx transmisson? Im almost positive im going with the element tuning at the moment, but im still going to need the wrx harness to make it work.

got a cool link from ecs, fsautoparts, they have alot of subarus in the junkyard and big inventory of parts, motors, wiring harness, transmissions...list is long, but pretty much alot of the stuff that i could use that is hard to find or expensive.

Where is that place?
Robk0000
01-06-2008, 10:56 AM
someplace in connecticut. They have a few 04 wrx, 1 sti they are parting out right now. 2.5l turbo complete motor: $3500 from them. Thats everything in the engine bay!

rear diff in your car has a different gear ratio and teh wrx trany's
Robk0000
01-06-2008, 11:36 AM
well thats ghey. same with the front i imagine. If so im adding those to the list as well.
Nate8409
01-06-2008, 02:26 PM
I will have a 3.54 ring and pinion as soon as I swap in my 6 speed. ie 3.54 is WRX final drive ratio up to 2005. Either 2006 or 2007 went to 3.7 Terry?
Robk0000
01-06-2008, 04:14 PM
well if it fits, im sure i will get yours.

yeah well the front is actually part of the trany so tog o from ur tranny to teh wrx u need a rear end as well.....GC tranny and rear end are 4.10 final drive and the wrx is 3.90 or 3.95 i forget which it is. mix and matching will cause a disaster
AllWheelsDriven

They have good package deals, motor with trans, with drivetrain...Lots of good ****, and not to bad prices.
Robk0000
01-07-2008, 06:09 PM
Im thinking y2kimports as far as compelete swap at the moment, ecs is good for installs, but for parts, their website sucks. lol

my dad said he would rather see me get a new car than do a swap, he even said he might donate money to the cause. I stopped at the dealership today after work and drove a new 5 dr wrx, Its Nice. Went over numbers and options, but i dunno, I like it alot. But the $25000, im not really to sure about.
PEOPLE, what should i do?
a: New WRX
b: Swap
c: Keep *****ing
Nate8409
01-23-2008, 07:20 PM
Someone EB knows just totalled his WRX. That would be the perfect donor for you if you could somehow get the car.
Robk0000
01-23-2008, 07:42 PM
im guessing you vote B? I cant afford a new car right now, atleast i wouldnt be comfortable with payments at the moment, but i can wait till June. Which is when i plan to purchase big, either swap or car.

01-23-2008, 08:10 PM
ill buy your car in June if you decide to get a new one.
Nate8409
01-23-2008, 08:13 PM
Yeah I vote swap. I mean what is better... GC is the original pimp. So a GC WRX is awesome. Or a regualar old WRX.
Easier to start with the WRX but another thing is you lose like 300 pounds of weight with the GC. So it is uber better.

01-24-2008, 11:09 PM
i vote swap
RCKSTR
01-25-2008, 07:05 PM
I vote SWAP:D theres nothing better than see'n gc's with swaps:wub: after we swapped my buddys 95, it was a totally different car! I wish I had swapped an oldschool. I love my 04 wrx but turbo gc's are sexy:devil:

Official update to the last update!
Motor swap to be done August 22nd if all goes well. Im getting the longblock from boosted technology on here! And the rest of the parts should be in next week or maybe a little later. The engine is a 2.0 wrx motor, VF39 turbo, CSS performance Sti TMIC, Stainless steel 4-1 unequal length header with up-pipe, wrx wiring harness, and an accessport 2.0 which i still need to find.
Wohoooooooooooooooo!
Picks to come shortly, also i just got an engine lift!
Murphy2012
06-28-2008, 05:10 PM
So you dont need to use the shop?
Robk0000
06-28-2008, 05:29 PM
well, i got the engine lift because my parents house is getting a new bridge put in before the garage and house, i have no access to the building, so im going to take it off at my house here in loudon and leave the motor outside for a week or two.
I would rather do it at your shop, all my mechanics tools are in jefferson and there arent many stores around incase we need stupid stuff, nuts and bolts...etc. I would prefer if you and your father wanted to help out since you have mechanical background. im just going to put the bolt where it fits, if you know what i mean.
