ive never been on the dyno, my brother said i should probably get a afr reading along with some other crap. But i have a $300 gauge in my room that says that ****, i think im going to install it next week. Is it okay to drill a big hole in the exhaust then put the sensor in it? or should i have someone weld a metal stub thats threaded?

Bu11dogg2

your AFR will only read correctly under WOT.

You can be running rich/lean in normal driving conditions and not know it.

Yes you should put it in the mouth of the DP right after the turbo so the point is facing down. It requires and probably came with a bung.

Wrong.

True.

01-17-2008, 04:47 PM
yeah, its not turbo :)

came with the bung.

The right after the collector for the header/ manifold. Weld in the bung.

he he he I said bung

I need to fix my exhaust, Do you guys weld?

The header has a leak, well its actually cracked, had it fixed and i think the weld the dude did was crap and its leaking again.

Sweet man, thanks for coming aboard! Need to reschedule a tune as I was supposed to be coming down this monday.

When would you like to reschedule to??? I have some time open next week if your available.

I've noticed that the Afr gauges are very picky depending on what gauge and what car it is. I found that if u wire it into the stock rear O2 sensor it works the best. We can also do dyno pulls with our wideband for a more accurate reading if you would like.

01-17-2008, 06:19 PM
I purchased a PLX devices, AFR meter and it looks really cool just sitting in my room. But i kinda wanna get that installed. When i hook it up, after i get my gauge holder mabobber, I will try and schedule somthing with you. I live in loudon, so it will take a whole 13 minutes to come over.

Also, just letting you know in advance, i mean like 6 months to a year early, that im going to come to you after i get my engine swap, make sure everything is good with the engine after the install.

I can weld! What kind of headers do you have?

Robk0000
01-17-2008, 06:32 PM
Borla, I would get them replaced under the million mile warranty, but. They need the header, i need the car, and they dont make this header anymore, so im screwed before i even call them. So i need to fix it, lol.

Nate8409
01-17-2008, 06:57 PM
COmplain harder. Tell them you want to speak to a rep or arrange to have a qualified shop of some type inspect it and report to them.

Robk0000
01-17-2008, 07:00 PM
dude, they need the header to verify it was not abused and ****, I ABUSED it, so i fail with that. Plus they want the header, now if they were local, i would drive there, rev my engine and they will hear the leak, but they are in wiskonsen, whoever you spell it. Now i have several options:

a) Roadtrip, 5000+ miles to find out they still wont give me a header because they dont have it.
b) reweld every 2 weeks, no complaints except paying somebody to do.
c) Engine Swap.
d) tdc can weld the bung and fix the header at the same time
e) Combine C/D and get the best of both worlds.

You know which one i am going for.

Just thought I would share the results of last nights tuning on one of the biggest builds in TDC Tuning history.

06 STI 2.71L stroker, APS SR70 turbo kit, 1100cc injectors, Duel fuel pumps, and all the rest to go with it.:D

The break-in tune made 330whp on a mere 15psi only going to 6000. this is what happens when Mike turns it up.

Robk0000
02-20-2008, 04:34 PM
what that happened 2 months prior to F1 dyno shutting down.

2mprzya
02-20-2008, 04:42 PM
the reason f1 closed was because the dyno broke, and it would be too much to fix it.

i can't beleive tdc is losing the dyno.

brendan, if you could please ask mike if i can set up a time to have him look at his original tune and maybe make some adjustments before the dyno heads west.

thanks.

Robk0000

i ddnt know it broke, i just knew that happened a few months prior.

2mprzya
02-20-2008, 04:54 PM
yeah, i remember going to that dyno day.. thankfully i showed up late to that meet, and they caught on to the newbie putting the straps on wrong.

it def cost them some dough tho, as i know they replaced a few of them at their expense.

Bu11dogg2
02-20-2008, 06:58 PM
THe newb at F1 put the straps on the sway bars and bent 8+ of them.

It is my understanding that TDC is leaving at teh end of february.

Sched your tunes now!!

02-20-2008, 08:56 PM
anyone heard info that tdc may be selling the dyno? someone on nasioc said they read somewhere they were getting rid of it.
im the one that said it. they posted this info on www.legacygt.com (http://www.legacygt.com) a couple of weeks ago.

quote from lgt.com...
As of the end of February TDC Tuning, will be restructuring the business, the dyno is rarely used at this point and is hurting us with overhead. Also we currently have a very low volume of work coming in, so may be eliminating that as well. We will still offer parts, maps, e-tunes, and tunes (at another location). We are currently considering whether or not doing install work is worth it or not.

If you want work and/or tuning I would suggest scheduling it ASAP.
