Stock 2002 WRX, 165k on the clock.
Struts DO need to be replaced but I don't know if that is what is causing the issue.
Under low speed turning or straight line acceleration there is a 'clunk clunk clunk' coming from either between the front seats or somewhere in the rear of the car..it's hard to tell. Also a slight squishing sound but i'm thinking that is either the rear diff bushings or rear suspension.
The 'clunk clunk clunk' sounds driveline related.
Input, thoughts?
Thanks,
E :spin:

stock exhaust?
Is this common?
You talking about this bearing?
Yes, in the center of the driveshaft.
The driveshaft bushings support the carrier bushing. I've heard of carrier bearings wearing out.

stock exhaust?
It has the SPT exhaust, has had it for several years afaik.
PS...I believe the sound is relatively recent. Started within the last week or so.

check and replace the rear diff bushings. Its a great upgrade and a good place to start.

stock or aftermarket hangers?
stock clutch?
I'm not sure on either. The hangers look to be stock (black rubber). and the clutch feels like a stock clutch. So I'm assuming both are stock.
I checked the endlinks, swaybar bushings. They are all fixed and look to be in good working order.
This is on a co-workers vehicle. A nice 2002 WRB WRX sedan.

does it sound like someone is hitting the under side of the car, inbetween the seats with a hammer?
If so it's the tranny bushings.

^^^ yes. Sounds like repeated hitting several times then will stop.
