holy crap.

The "IX" may be what happened? I got four of those on a little engine that is in higher compression. four steel sleeved plug holes later, and it is now leaking in a tigh hole...

they seem to have a insulator too long and parts numbers going into wrong places is my guess.
:dunno:

given iridium is hard enough, they now have to find materials surrounding it to fit the bill.

what other stuff aside from plug fail ensued? this was in the engine when it happened right?

My first thought was the plug backed out of the hole but if you look close you can see the gasket was compressed. We actually unscrewed this thing out of the head. Coil pack is dust now.
I put an insert in the plug hole to repair the threads, new plugs and a coil pack and the damn thing runs like nothing happened. Amazing. :dunno:

Did I mention I love Accords?

it really is the plug then, as the problem.

the little 4 bangers run a tight ship... even the sleev with a .5cc gained in chamber squish makes it even bigger...

thanks for this post.

you mentuioned coil pack, is it the the timer that double fires? I am guessing that is my only saving grace... old disty and single fires on a bit of dwell..nothing fancy. Will keep a closer eye I guess.

I could be mistaken but I don't think those coils fire a waste or double spark. The coil pack literally turned to dust down inside the hole. I've been doing this a long time and have never seen anything like this.
