Okay, I realize most people want to lower and I wish to possibly go in the opposite direction. I love my leggy, but I continually have clearance problems and when I tow my camper, I am constantly smacking the tow hitch on the ground (as previously discussed). I cannot spend the $1,500 for coilovers, so I was wondering how hard would it be to find a junkyard Outback and do some switching out? Again, I am very much a novice at these things. Suggestions? I appeciate it! -MSM-

Ummm... It's direct fitment but good luck finding a 05-09' Outback in a junkyard. Besides you wouldn't want junk yard suspension parts. There are a few dealerships on here that would give you a good price on brand new OEM parts. It should only take the springs to get the result you are looking for. Good luck and there is nothing wrong with deciding to go up over down on a Subaru. Subarus follow function over form ussually anyways.

Or look out on the more legacy oriented websites for someone doing the complete opposite. Going with a dealer would probably be close to coilovers in terms of price.:palm:

Than used Outback springs that people get rid of dirt cheap?

Hell if he combined the two, that would be a decent lift...

The Outback alone isn't a decent lift? Wonder if 08+ Forester springs or any year Tribeca springs would work. Hmmm...

um...the outback springs would only really make it as high as...well...an outback..

SUS is taller than an outback.. no idea if they were still around in 05, though. I dont pay much attention to legacy's, though I should..

It wasn't called the SUS in 05, it was literally just an Outback Sedan, and the ride height is the same as the Outback Wagon for that generation.
I would totally rock one with leather interior and a H6 under the hood.

there more then just springs involved. you need the lifting blocks from between the front crossmember.the outback struts are taller and the springs are taller. theres a place out of australia called http://www.kingsprings.com.au/ that sell even taller springs for subies. ive done lots and lots of research on this for my 2000. outback h6 struts will give alittle more lift in the front not much more like 1/2inch.
hope this helps.

Would a coil over set up be as durable as, say, a king spring set up? The roads around here are pretty horrific, especially during the winter and early spring and any suspension is going to take quite a beating.

If they are gravel spec maybe. Most lower cost sets will be absolute **** no matter what you do. Coilovers are for when you are ready to spend the right money for a good item or just want the "status" and Brotato around the block.
Yes I know delayed responce.
But yeah look for gravel spec coilovers. Get on DirtyImpreza.com and see what people might have or could suggest.
