View Full Version : Southern ME Restaurant thread

I noticed VT and Mass doing it, and i think we should too!

This thread will be for discussing food, service, and resturants in Southern ME. Basically Westbrook south.

I will start.

Ruby's Wood Grille- York, ME

Great food, atmosphere and good prices! always busy, but great to go and watch games. They Do trivia once a week on Tuesday. Also the bar staff is pretty attractive.

Shipyard Brew Pub- Eliot, ME

Not my favorite food, menu is kinda limited. But the beer is good and decently-priced, Trivia Tuesday nights, and they have a game room with darts, pool, buckhunter, fooseball and TVs. Plus the lot is HUGE and 3 minutes from my house.

Warren's - Kittery, ME

I personally loved it. Food was delicious, salad bar is MASSIVE, and the price wasen't terrible. One bad thing though is parking. little to none.

Loco Coco's - Kittery ME

Great, authentic, huge portions. Cheap food, decent parking lot. right outside my work which is nice.

Sebago Brew Pub - Kennebunk and Portland ME

Awesome beer, great food, very nice facilities. Kennebunk has a huge lot thanks to the hannaford next door, and Portlands was kinda small. Both places have great pricing and specials Mon, Tue, and Wed.

Casa Fiesta- Biddeford

Great mexican food. Menu has lots of options, more than just a burrito place. Excellent guacamole.

I will post more as i think of them. feel free to add on!

The Indian place in Kittery: Tulsi

AMAZING FOOD. kinda pricey (about 15-17 dollars a plate). The menu, although phenomonal, is a bit limited, and if you want to go on a thursday/friday/saturday... MAKE RESERVATIONS

The parking is small, but I never have trouble finding a spot.

Oooo, i forgot this one:

Portland Pie Co -

HUGE lot right off of Exit 42 off of 95. In the same lot as Cabelas. Place isn't huge, but they handle large groups quite well. I have been to two meets here with 30-40 people no problem. Pizza is delicious and the price isn't too bad either.

Texas Roadhouse, Chipotle, and Olive Garden, over at the Newington mall.

I know these are technically NH, but c'mon... not even NH considers it 'real' NH... just like Maine doesn't consider Kittery 'real' Maine

Texas has great steak and better bloomin onion than Outback. Fried pickles are great and if you catch that at the right time, the ribs are to die for (fall right off the bone amazing) and the price is VERY reasonable.

Olive garden has amazing food and the one reason to go: Endless soup/salad and (when the season is right) endless pasta bowls. Terrible waits though (sometimes 1.5 hours) and parking kinda sucks.

Chipotle, if you want a burrito... GO HERE. Great ingredients, (healthy, too, for those ON DIETS) and about 6-7bucks for burrito. guac is extra, but i always pay for it.

Tasty Thai, on the outskirt of the Kittery Traffic Circle.

Owned by an american man and his Thai wife. She cooks. He does the up front stuff. Really good food. Don't quite remember the pricing.

Pros: great prices, fast service, no need to park
Con: you die several years younger

Just noticed this thread. We do have the freshest seafood but we also know that the best seafood is prepared in your own home!

If you are around Bar Harbor (more northern, I know...) Geddy's is AWESOME. Very fun, big plates, and decent prices!

Pricey, and not quite in Maine, but it should be known that the best steak I've had is at the Library Restaurant in Portsmouth, NH. Get the mac & cheese as well as potatoes for sides. If you've having a romantic night out, get the romance part over with prior to eating, because I assure you that you will be junk afterwards. Seriously. You'll make it home and just look at each other with glazed over eyes for at least a couple hours. It is pricey, if you get a glass of wine and dessert, you're looking ~$120ish. Mrs. SCGT and I go there for special occasions.

Oak Street Bistro in Alfred on 202. New owners a couple of years ago and they did the place over. Great food and atmosphere. I have taken many a client there. Limited parking.

Yeah, I've been there a few times. Great food but it is pricey. The last time Jess and I went we both got steak and a bottle of wine and it came to a little over $150 + tip. Ouch!....but it was good.

Has anyone noticed restaurant in the title is spelled resturant?

Besides that if anyone is in Wells and wants *real* pizza with real mozzarella not the fake mozzarella crap (they all use "blends") other Maine pizza places have, go check out Seacoast Pizza on Route 1.

Also check out Boon Island Ales on Route 1 by Sleep Town, the food has always been great and the service is great too. They have a double ground angus burger that would smack five guys in the face.
