Get SPT exhaust, can't go wrong. Few weeks ago I got pulled over in Berwich for exhaust, I pulled receipt from Exeter Subaru said "sorry sir, dealer did this for me it's official dealer's part". He was puzzled, said he never heard about it, but he let me know.
If you want louder, I like HKS carbon a lot.

LOL, its a matter of a personal preference, the best way to pick an exhaust is to buy what you like. GO to meets, listen to peoples exhausts get information about supporitng mods, Basically, dont buy what someone said sounds good. LISTEN to it yourself.
oh and post on the right subforum or murph gets mad.

As for intakes... all the systems out there more or less do the same thing with little performance gain. Also, you might want to read up on after-market intakes and the possibility of it causing your motor to run lean. I personally choose not to spend money on after-market intakes and removed my intake silencer. No performance gain, just a sound gain.
As for exhausts... everyone's suggestions are spot on, its all about what you think looks good and sounds good. Exhausts free up some power but most of the power is unlocked when you get engine management of some kind.
I think the best thing a new WRX owner can do is read the FAQ articles on NASIOC.COM and ask tons of questions.

Exhaust: Prodrive or Stromung axle-backs and a custom-bent midpipe.
Intake. Eh. It's so 2002. Is it worth spending north of $200 on an intake for a street-driven car? No. Maybe for a turbo. I have a free hand-me-down CAI made from PVC pipe fittings. A NESIC classic. It is worth free.

An intake is like a BOV. Noise makers. I heard a car with an intake and loved the sound it had so I bought the SPT.
It brings our so much more life from the turbo. The turbo now is always letting me know exactly what it is doing.
