Why Lake Champlain? *Just curious*

Stay away from the Mallets Bay area. The water is terible there, smells like sewage. There are some camp ground areas over near Grand isle. It's referred to as the 'sandbar' area. They rent canoes and everything. There are some other smaller lakes too that are nice. Fairfield pond (really a lake) has really clean water. Lake Carmi isn't the cleanest, but it's quiet and a friendly place. Trolling or minow fishing works great there, especially near the island. My grandparents had a camp on the lake right in front of it. Green River resevoir also has really good fishing. They don't allow motorboats. I haven't been there in years, but it seems like you'd get a fish on every other cast.

Oh I wonder why you'd be looking at a July time frame?

Grand Isle State Park has nice, rustic, cabins at a reasonable rate.

If you want super secluded, see if there are any rentals on Isle La Motte. My family has a camp house on the island and it's practically a ghost town 9/10's of the year...not that you can consider it town by any means though.

What he ^ said

any interest in primitive camping ? I'm talking a few campsites on a beautiful small lake. Packing everything in and out, bathing in the lake ect... or does it have to be a cabin with amenities.

if you want to be away from a lot of people staying on an island might do the trick. no cabins but there is lean-to's and hiking trails.

Thanks for the advice everyone!

We actually found a really nice place in Keeler Bay :)

We want to be close to Burlington so we can get good eats and do a little shopping.

We also like hiking so and there's plenty of that in the area :)

any suggestions for places to eat in Burlington or the surrounding area?

Why Lake Champlain? *Just curious*

We both have travelled the country/world pretty extensively and this is just another place for us to check off the list :)

Weenie, The Bearded Frog is pretty good (its in Shelburne, about 15min from downtown Burlington). The Daily Planet, VT Pub and Brewery, Scuffer Steakhouse and the Windjammer are all good as well.

Also there's another place further south (~ 1:20 max) that you kayak up to if you would like (its called the Lake House on Lake Bomoseen).

If you want to borrow a Kayak too, let me know, I've got a 14' Old Town Kayuga

Anything and everything. Don't care if it's $2.00 a plate or $200.00 a plate.

this weekend?

well randy if you like party style scenarios. Burlington has some of the wildest bar scenes in all of new england with everything being so close to each other.
Also vt pub and brew has live bands sometimes weekend nights on the balcony
manhattan pizza makes a good slice and has a full bar
same with kens pizza
music performances nectars is the original place for the concert scene. down stairs they hold concerts and up stairs they have a more dance club style theme.

its all about what you and the lady would like to do and eat for food

Saturday the 9th there's a subaru meet if you wanna attend... and I quote: "1st 802 meet of the July will be happening Saturday July 9th at 6pm @ the colchester/milton park n ride off exit 17. See you there weather permitting!"
I might be there, but I doubt it...
