Intake airflow straightener

I have a Mazdaspeed CAI with no airflow straightener before the MAF sensor. It makes the readings go all over the place because of the random swirls on the sensor.

Does anyone have experience fabricating a flow straightener? I would think that some aluminium honeycomb would be premo.

I've seen a few honeycomb ones. I know my old cobb short ram had a one in it seemed to work pretty good. the cobb one was just vertical and horizontal slats.
