Alright, I finally went to TDC to get my tune done from them. I had been running the Cobb Base Stage 2 93 map and loved it. But this new tune, holy crap it's great! I heard all kinds of stuff about TDC and Jon before I went there but it's people simply stating their opinions or hear-say and I decided to be the judge myself. I am happy I did because they are great people and do great business. I first went there to talk to Jon about getting an AP 2.0 and a tune from them, and went ahead with ordering it. He was a cool guy and conducted business in a good fashion and even hung around till about 9.30 pm talking to me and letting me pick his brain. After a few more visits I met Mike, who is now running the place, as Jon left for LA. Mikes a cool cat too, and did the actual tune on my car. He did an outstanding job and the car runs excellent. He got 201 hp and 292.3 tq. out of it. I'll get a pic of the map up soon.

201 hp on stage 2? seems kinda low.
and man do i need a 2.5

on cobb ots stage 2 map i was running 225 whp and 230 tq.
jon sent me a stage 2 map from them and i'm going to put in on at the dyno day there. do a few runs, then put the map on and do a few more.

jon was awesome with the emap, and mark has been nothing but nice with setting up the dyno day with me.

Ya, I agree with the hp seeming low. They said it was most likely because of the axleback, which seems odd to me. I have the stealthback, but the same highly restrictive stock axleback that mike thinks should be the reason behind it not breathing like it should.

Everytime I've talked to someone who has gotten a 'base-tune' from TDC the numbers are low and the car runs like ***.. at least you're not suffering from the latter.

its just about a complete dif shop now though. jon only does emaps, which he is apparently amazing at. i've read tons of people bashing on him tuning cars, but they still said that his emaps were awesome. mike is now the tuner.

if, when you get the axleback, the hp doesn't go up, i would ? it a lot more. although i still dont think it should be that low.

Ya I agree, I thoght that was real low to, as Jon told me I shouldbe around 230 whp after the tune. I talked to mike about that and he said it was most likely the axleback, but he said he did all he coould and the only thing that was moving was the torque. Thing is still a monster now, at least for mostly stock parts. Anyone wants a ridein it this friday to feel, let me know, 5 bucks a head, haha.

I think a ton of his problems arise from how he conducts business, not necessarily his tuning ability. TDC wasn't the first shop he had these sort of issues at. Either way I hope your happy and I hope the shop does better now that the lighting rod has moved out.

Ya thats how they did it man. I was on the dyno for about two hours. He said he kept trying and trying for more HP but wasnt able to get any more out of it. The axleback will be in next week and hopefully finishing the full turboback will help it out. Ill have to take it back because I know that I should have more power out of it.

will they throw it back on and tune it again for you for free? or at least give you a deal?

Dan, are you alcoholic? :)

I was there when he was getting it tuned. It was long, I had to leave before they were done.

randy... u forgot to mention that you have more than a stealthback...lol

1 thing everyone should learn about running their own business or making a business decision... 1 unhappy person is 100 times louder than 1 happy person. for example.. if you look at bestbuy's rating from better business bureau.. you would never dare to step foot into that store.. but like a competent human being.. you judge for yourself.

tdc unfortunately does not have 700 shops all over the world. if they did, the complainers wouldnt seem like such a big deal any more

what mods do you have? with a catless UP/DP and a dyno tune you should be putting out much more than 201 WHP. 293 torgue?

are you sure your reading your plot right?

post it up

brandon i'll take you for a drive tonight just remind me. my 03 rex is ~ 170 whp and torque bone stock. with stage 1 enginuity put on, not even fully tuning it for max performance, i pull as much as vlad's stage 2 cobb. i can keep up with him easily when he goes wide open. if anyone wants i will take them out tonight and show them how it pulls, just hop in the car when i take brandon out for a spin.

p.s. - you also get to sit on the jdm seats ~ok~

Alright, I'm back from TDC and have accomplished what I wanted to with the axleback. It's now putting out 228 whp and 289wtq. Im just about positive those were the final numbers. As soon I get the chart in my email I will post it! Car feels amazing, everyone go to TDC!~ok~

228 with the protune? is that conservative?

jw. i dont mean to sound like an asshole, but i'm pushing 228 with ots cobb maps.

Well compared to scoobaru's its pretty damn close. I guess they used the same map for you Terry. They're good numbers. And the power just seems so effortless. But you're running that 4" downpipe vs. his 3". Pulls pretty good now, wouldn't ya say!

That little turbo runs out of juice pretty early, peak HP is up top and that turbo isn't flowing much up there, but it makes some decent power low to mid range.

The car was on the dyno for many pulls so the engine started to get warm and the TQ numbers dropped a bit.

I'm willing to bet that if I put my car on that dyno right now, the tq numbers would be higher...It was on the dyno for a long time..
