View Full Version : Idea for a possible ME/NH meet
So I wanted to toss this idea around to see if there would be any interest for a meet. I was thinking LaserTag at Hilltop Fun Center in Somersworth, NH (Rt. 108). Their lasertag building is huge and it's two stories. I think it'd be a good change from just going out to a restaurant. If there is enough interest I'll call the place and see how much it would be per person for us to rent the arena for a few hours.

I like enhanced laser tag, I'd be down. I'm sure subyspeed would be too... :D
Depending on day and time i would be down as well.
Well, I'm thinking either a Friday night or weekend night (or day). It'd probably only be for a couple of hours, anymore than that and I think people would start passing out. It's quite the workout running around. I get WAY into it. Mon-Thurs is out for me due to mid shifts for eight weeks. I hope we can get a ****-ton of people to go because it really is a blast.
Cool thing is at the end of each round it displays each person's stats up on the big screan so you can see who rocks and who sucks at life. Lol

This is open to other members of NES not located in the cool states, too. But, if you say you're gonna be there, then be there. No show'ers could potentially ruin this event for everyone as I have a feeling there will be a minimum number of people that will have to be down for this to be considered by HFC. This goes for everyone actually. Just saying, this has the potential to kick ass and I'd hate for it to fall apart the day of, so just keep that in mind.

AHHH THEY HAVE A DRIVING RANGE!
"17 Mats and Grass Area. 2 Target Greens and 250 yds in depth. (With a 60′ net in the back) & new Spaulding Range balls every year."
AHHH NEW RANGE BALLS! ....GASP! EVERY YEAR?!
Now I'm definitely in. I hope I dont have to pay extra for launching balls over their measly 60' fence. :D

what i suggest is after dan finds out the info for a large group, you can paypal one of us the money (you have to give us 24 hours notice for a refund if you can't make it!!!!) and then we can purchase the tickets. once you're in, you're in. if you guys are cool with that. if not, we can just try it the hope-everyone-shows-up-way  but i agree, this meet has the potential to be awesome if people follow through with the plans :D
Weekends are fine with me, I just have to make sure that it's not going to interfere with any of the big meets and such. I think the driving range is extra and so are the go-karts.

any ideas on a date yet?
No nothing yet. I'll work on a couple of selections and then put up a poll to see which would work best for people. It'll be a while before I can do that though because of my shift right now.

Okay guys and gals, here is what I found out so far (and when I say I, I really mean Jess). We have a couple of different options.
Option 1: We rent the entire laser tag arena for 1 hour, during business hours. Price is $300. Seems like a lot but when you do the math it's really not that bad. If we get 20 people to go it'll only be $15/person. If we get 15 people to go then it'd be $20/person. This option would meen that NES owns the arena for one hour and no other customers would be allowed to participate.
Option 2: 2 hours of unlimited laser tag, go karts, put-put golf, driving range, batting cages, during regular business hours, for $325 (up to 29 guests which I don't really see us going over that). While it seems like a slightly better option I don't think it is because there are going to be other customers there and it'll be more like a free for all. But yeah, if we get 20 people, it'd be $16.25/person and if we got 15 people it'd be $21.67
Option 3: Option 3 is the same premis as option 2 but takes place after hours. This means that NES would pretty much run the entire place for 2 hours without others getting in the way of our fun. I haven't found out the price on this but I can assure you it's gonna be a bit more than $325. This option would deffinately depend on the amount of intrest we get for this to actually happen, I'd say a minimum of 15-20 people to even think of going this route.
I'm going to post a poll to see first, who's interested in going and then I'll post a poll after to see which option NES'ers perfer.
One note: This is a family center so I don't believe there are any alcoholic beverages available BUT after our time is up there, we could venture over to either Chili's, Applebee's, Uno's for some beers because it's right down the street.
How did it take me a week to find this? I would be down for some action
Option 2 or 3 sound best to me

I think option 1, but Im just a fan of shooting people
3, though probably costing many american doll-hairs would be sick as well!

I agree, I think option 3 would kick ass but would be wayyyyy more costly. At least with option 1 we own the arena for the entire hour which equals out to about 4 games of laser tag. We could have just one giant ass game of laser tag but I don't think it'd be as enjoyable as breaking it up into smaller games.
Get a list and price and maybe a pole?

oh yeah, and please don't forget, this isn't going to work pricing wise if we don't make sure people are going to show up. if we have 15 people say "yay" then only 5 show up, that would be extremely expensive. they DO require a deposit for events like this (and in some cases, it's not refundable) so pre-paying may be our BEST option...
I'm in for pre payment
UPDATE: Okay folks, I called and found out that the private laser tag rental is ONLY before or after regular business hours (business hours are 10am-10pm). As of right now I'm thinking a Saturday night would be best, possibly the 16th or 23rd of this month. This should be enough time for people to get out of work, go home and get ready and swing on over.
So here's the deal: This needs to be paid in full, up front. I want to make this happen in the worst way but I also don't want to be stuck paying $300 and then have only a few people show. In order to make this happen I'm going to start a list of attendees. If you want to go on the list it's gonna be for either day (which ever day we can book in time). The list will be up for one week. At the end of the week, IF we have enough people to attend (15-20) then I will ask those people to paypal me the payment (this is dependent upon the number of people) as a gift (to avoid paypal fees) and I'll go and book the date.
So as of right now the date will either be the 16th or the 23rd from 10pm-11pm. I'd say if you can't make both dates, don't put yourself on the list because it's going to be a crapshoot as to what day we get. I know that the 24th is Easter but I kinda hope we get the 23rd.

So whats the word?
I'd have to say that plans are going to be put on hold for now. Not enough people have said they want to go. Maybe after some of the big meets get out of the way. Honestly, I'm not even sure I can afford to be doing anything extra at this time as I might be fruloughed for an undisclosed period of time which meens no money coming in.:spin: Damn politicians.

That's the key.
We actually work with people who have no savings, already took out loans through their tsp, and now they might be furloughed...
well, not now, but the risk was there on friday. But definitely lesson learned. Make sure you got at least 1 month's worth in the bank.

i'm just thankful if the furlough did go through (which, we i'm pretty sure we aren't in the clear YET, i think they still have some finalizing to do) we'd be able to pay our mortgage and important bills.
this was a real eye opener though that we still need to be careful with our spending anyways.

Haha, okay I'll add you but as of right now plans are on hold. We couldn't get enough intrest in time for the dates offered. I'm going to try this again in the early future but I'm gonna wait till some of the larger meets are over.

Yea... we're getting tax monies back, and instead of buying the turboback and lift kit, it looks like I should instead put most of it away into savings... :sigh:
