thats the first time i have seen an 04-05 swap to 07 tails. Do you still have the original tails?

Twin scroll doesn't have the fleX in the uppipe. The flexes are in the manifold assm.

I thought only the Twin Scroll WRX's had flex UP's :iam:

I am not sure it is a flex, pre cat I would guess. They didn't eliminate the pre cat in the up pipe until 2006 or 5 not sure.

It was 2006+ that has no cat. True it could be cat, but I thought he had a straight up. And that up looks freshly painted or new.

Thanks for all the comments guys:D
And to solve the mystery about my up-pipe... Its a STI up-pipe(without heat shield) that I bought off someone used(cheap) since it was catless. He drilled and welded a nut on it to "try" to put his own egt sensor in. Ya, it didn't workout for him and since he didn't use a metric nut I couldn't hook the stock one back up.
so I then welded the hole to prevent leaks and painted the area to prevent rust on the freshly welded surface.

so that's what a naked STi UP looks like.

next purchase will be the turbo cuz ya, thats kinda important:lol: then the oil lines, fittings, wastegate, ect... but I'm going to have plenty of time to source out all the parts since the subies gonna be in pieces for the next few months (once the snow hits that is:()

you keeping the stock motor and trans with the gt30?

RCKSTR

you keeping the stock motor and trans with the gt30?
haha, ya for as long as they hold up:lol: I've been doing my research for a few months about the gt30 on the stock tranny and block. it looks like the block can hold up with a conservitive tune of around 350ish. once that goes I'm either going to build the 2.0 or most likely just buy the sti block.
as for the tranny, I'm just going to not be an asshat while I shift:o the 04-05 tranny is a lil stronger than the previous ones:rofl: ya, we'll see about that. once that goes I'll either get a usdm tranny with all the fixings or a cheaper (but still strong) jdm sti 5 speed.
we'll see what goes first...

I've talked to others on nasioc who have had this setup on their wrxs for a few years now with no problems... yet...

either way, theres gonna be another worth while upgrade down the road:devil:

Kevin

ya I was wondering due to that being a little on the edge lol

don't waste money on a sti block with the ****ty cast pistons. check out raw performance they use to be axis.
are the jdm 5 speeds really stronger? I had ra gears in my 04 wrx and they really didn't look much stronger then the stockers that I shattered.

either way your car is gonna be nasty with a gt30. you tunning it?

ya, thats the edge for both the tranny and block:lol: I'm going to sell all the things I'm taking off and hopefully have enough to buy one or the other so we'll see. raw perfromance huh, I'll check them out thanks for the heads up:D

no I'm not tuning it. I don't know the first thing about tuning, plus if I did I might get a lil boost happy and BOOM, no more motor:o with the 2.0 you want to stay around 22 but one of the guys I've talked to is running 32lbs:eek: thats just insane!!

I'll probubly have Mike from tuning alliance do it, he did a good job on my present setup.

thanks for telling me about raw performance, I've been doing alot of research and thinking and I'm going to buy one of their blocks with the money from when I sell all my stage 4 parts plus a few other things:lol:

so then I only have to worry about the tranny:unamused:

thanks, its going through quite a few changes in the near future:devil: and I will be update'n this thread with EVERYTHING I'm doing.

Ahah sick dude. Whats the difference between stage 3 and 4?

RCKSTR

Ahah sick dude. Whats the difference between stage 3 and 4?
alot of people say different things but heres how I judge the stages.
stage 3 is turbo, injectors, pump, plus all of the previous stage mods.
now stage 4 is all that plus other bolt-ons like turbo inlet, fmic, ect...
stage 5 to me is building the motors internals

Would you consider my set up "to be" Stage 3?

-AP Uppipe
-Sti TMIC
-Cobb Accessport v2

now just be very carfull with your tranny, you'll be close to the limits with that setup. I know I am:unamused: I'm now looking into a 6 speed swap but that won't be till next winter mostlikely:(

11-24-2008, 09:45 PM
Yeah i am always wicked careful I never launch or anything. I wont have the money for a new tranny for a least another year myself. Ive spent 4,559 in the last 2 months on this bugeye. on top of all my mods my power steering went.
