I took my ’05 Legacy GT Ltd to see Bren on March 13, 2011. Originally I was supposed to see him the previous week but due to an emergency I had to reschedule and he was really cool about it.

We had a hard time finding the place because well, it’s in Massachusetts and we all know how much trouble that place can be. LOL. But seriously we finally found the place because we saw Bren Driving towards it in his M3. It’s actually in the same building as a car dealer so just keep that in mind if you are going to his Worcester Location.

We finally parked and introduced ourselves and it turned out Bren noticed something as we pulled in. My car was idling funny, it would go from 500rpm to 800 back to 500… it wasn’t right. Once all of his stuff was hooked up he figured out there was a vacuum leak. My husband helped him out and between the two of them they got what they thought was the problem fixed and Bren took off saying he’d be back in about 30 minutes, then he showed back up a minute later, one of the hoses that they had looked at fell off. :unamused:

Bren somehow managed to get the hose back on before my husband could make it outside to see what was wrong. Now, with the hoses all attached correctly he took off and was gone for awhile. :)

When he came back my car didn’t even sound like the car I drove in. It sounds better, it drives better, I get better gas mileage too! :D

He said whoever had tuned it before did a horrible job. They had it set so that even a light press of the gas pedal had it dumping gas into the engine as though I had mashed the pedal to the floor. Now, if I lightly press the pedal the car slowly moves forward, I can ease into the gas and not feel like I’m going to jerk forward and smash the car in front of me.

I seriously fell in love with my car all over again! I honestly recommend Bren Tuning to everyone! It was Excellent Quality work and it didn’t break the bank. He is meticulous and takes his time so don’t expect a quick tune!! I knew that it would take anywhere from 1-3 hours and it took almost 3 because my car had so many little issues. He’s patient though and he will answer any questions you have an explain anything you don’t understand.

We were so impressed with his work that we are bringing my husband’s 2002 WRX to him as soon as my husband installs all the new parts he’s purchased.

I give Bren Tuning 5 out of 5 Cars (Instead of stars...haha?)

Great write up, congratulations on the (new to you) car! Bren will go out of his way to help with almost anything, without tacking "trouble shooting" onto a big bill at the end of the session. ;) Bren FTW!

Thanks for the review and your business.

The car definitely needed some sorting which we were able to tackle. There was some de-modding on this car before and we had to work around the quirks of the MAF/missing vacuum lines. I could tell upon the way the car sounded when it arrived that it had a higher idle/vacuum leak. These issues among the prevous tune lead to extremely poor driveability. After fixing vacuum leak #1 and pressurizing the intake tract, ANOTHER hose let go off the intake manifold on boost.

One thing you get with my service is a REAL custom tuned file. Not a base file where boost is verified, afr is checked, and knock is verified. We start from scratch for the customer's needs down to part throttle AVCS mapping, boost response, DBW mapping. Then we have the customer drive and verify this before leaving. We spend alot of time getting the driving 'feel' down. Alot of tuned cars can produce great numbers and nice curve but were never driven on the street to optimize the smoothness of throttle transitions and part throttle to be seamless even on a highly modified vehicle.
