Greetings,
Just wan't to quickly introduce myself here. My name is Matt and I recently moved to Portsmouth from Philadelphia. I'm not currently a Subie owner but am in the market for a nice WRX/STI after experiencing my first New England winter. I'm a big car guy and usually have multiple builds going on. Currently have a Volvo C70 that is pretty well built and an NSX that I've begun tinkering with as well. I believe i've seen a few members on here driving around town and look forward to meeting everyone.
regards,
Matt

Hey there,
No problem, here's a pic of the Acura. Unfortunately I moved up here at the beginning of Winter and haven't been able to drive it as often as I like. At this point I've only installed the new suspension, built the wheels(HRE 525's) and added a few carbon bits.

Here's a pic of the Volvo as well. I've been working on this one for a couple years now and it's sporting a fully built engine, Southbend Stage 4 clutch, KW's, 19's etc.

Wow, nice cars. I'm sure anyone here can help you find a subaru that'll make you happy. Just ask and we shall help.

LOL, thanks I appreciate the compliments. I'm looking forward to spending some time on the forum as I honestly know very little about the WRX/STI's. Before moving to NH I worked for a pretty well-known Audi/VW/Porsche tuning firm and am looking to expand my horizons. I'll try not to ask too many dumb questions on here!

wow nice work! good stuff.
an STI would be a very nice winter car for you. Based on what you have posted, I think it would also be a good summer car for you. It would also be a good car to drive to and from work in the spring. Plus, it's a good car to bomb around in during the autumn months.

LOL, good points! I really am looking forward to an AWD vehicle. We picked up the XC90 for the wife to drive to work but im stuck to fend for myself. The NSX is a wicked donut machine in the snow but definitely not practical and I hate the thought of tearing up the cf lip on the Volvo so im left with the SLK which can't get out of it's own way.

Not to mention there are no donuts like AWD donuts in the snow.... :spin:
And we have a "super secret" lot for those...

Welcome!
That NSX makes me happy down below.
I saw the NSX 2 times yesterday. one time you were pulling into a parking lot behind a bike shop and it didn't look like you were going to make it! that thing is freaking LOW!!

I'm jealous that you have those cars on an E-5 salary!

Well think about it... e5 with enough years is like 50k a year with 75% of civillian bills taken care of by the Gov.
And if you are not like the common idiot in the military you can save a ton of money super, super, super fast!

Thanks again for the comments. I live pretty close to downtown Portsmouth. I was off all day yesterday and used the car to run errands. I was having some serious withdrawals as it hasn't moved since November. LOL, I know which parking lot you're talking about. I've become pretty good at maneuvering the car around and rarely scrape(even with 3" ground clearance in the front). I actually took a pretty sizable pay cut coming back in but the cars are paid off and I make a decent salary as a 6 year E-5 with dependents(wife only, no kids). If anyone spots me feel free to wave!

We don't get any more money for what we do then if we were in the civilian sector doing the same type of work for the same amount of years. The difference is, our base taxable salary is rather low, then they add in health care and housing, food, clothing and all that stuff. In the end it evens out comparing Military to Civilians.
For instance, based on what he says, he only makes about $150 more then me in base pay because he has 6 years and I only have 4.

I figured you had the cars paid off and either from a previous job, or some other means. Lets be honest lol, no way someone could have those vehicles with work done to them on just E-5 pay alone lol. I was just joking around though, I knew it wasn't off E-5 pay you got those vehicles. For all I know you could have saved up a **** load of money before entering the Military.
By the way, I don't think anyone would be upset if you drove the NSX to one of SCS meets ;-) lol, hint hint!

Definitely agree with you there. While I love the job i'm not getting rich as an E-5 in the CG, lol. I had to save for quite awhile to buy the cars but for me it was worth it in the end. As long as im off work i'll make sure to head out to one of the upcoming meets. It admittedly isn't as fast in a straight line as i'd like but it does hold it's own in the twisties.

I think there is a fairly active NSX group in NH. Two people I work with in Merrimack own them. One lives in Dover and the other is up in Dunbarton.

Beautiful NSX. Hopefully you can make it out to one of the meets this spring/summer.
Also, you should check out the annual Northeast Exotic Car Show held at the Anheuser-Busch Brewery in Merrimack, NH. Last year's show was held in August. Your NSX would fit right in.

I second the ride comment... I would love to get a ride in a NSX!!!
Are you taking bribes? I could go as high as a free beer at the next meet!?
