Welcome to the club! We typically meet on Fridays around 6 in the Dover/Portsmouth areas. Look in the weekly meet section as there will be a thread up for this weeks meet shortly. And by shortly I mean I am starting one after I finish this post! Lets get some pics of your ride up in the member gallery too!

Ya, we have many experienced modders on the forum, with good opinions and suggestions. Biggest thing is though, don't forget that it is your car and the mods should be done to your tastes and built to what you want the car for, not what someone suggests. Take a look at the Member Gallery and get an idea of what you like/want. There are a few 04/05 body styles on here, some modded heavily (kgj###) and some modded lightly but tastefully (proxywrx). If you let us know your intentions with the car, we can give you suggestions from here to sundown. We look forward to helping any new subaru enthusiast! :D

welcome dude. took me a year to touch my cars engine. all i wanted was wheels and lowering springs. But then a drive in bulldog2 old leggy wagon and kgj's 04/05 made me want some go fast bits. Take your time and do it right.

Intake isnt really necessary at all. You can put in a K&N panel filter and will get a little more sound out of it, but for the most part you wont see any improvement with an intake. As fas as an exhaust goes, you want to figure out what style of exhaust you like, whether you want it loud, and how much of the exhaust you want to replace.

There are Turboback Exhaust (TBE's), Catback Exhausts (CBE's), and axlebacks (axlebacks). Cat back is my best suggestion beause when you replace the downpipe, which completes the TBE , you must get some sort of engine management. This is a brief description and there is plenty more to go.

Personally, I would get some sway bars, springs, and catback. That will keep you happy for at least a few months while you save some money. Rims and Tires are a great second starting point, you will gain a lot of grip and steering response, and shave some weight off of the axles.

Third, get and Downpipe and gut your up pipe, then get some sort of EM (Engine Management) and a safe protune. Then adding little things like a short shifter (assuming you have a MT), drivetrain/body bushings, and whatever you like for exterior mods, and you'll have yourself a hot and kick ass car!

With my 04 WRX I went right for the power Improvements... and now I need some suspension mods to even out the whole driving experience. After all thats done I'm going to improve the interior/exterior. Its all about personal style.

Right, in no way shape or form, are my comments correct. They are purely my opinion. However, if you read around the community forums you see that most do agree on what should be improved on the WRX first. But, don't forget that it is your car and you can feel free to do whatever you please. But be aware that everyone's opinions will be shared with you!

Since so many of us have modded our cars just ask for rides in our various cars.

You can see what a modified steering rack is with mine and how the car feels with no bushing left stock in the suspension basically. Terry and I have larger brakes. Etc etc etc. We all have a ton of modifications.

I am stage 2 right now with the same motor as you so my cars current powertrain would be close to what you want I think. So you could ride i it to see if you like the power of stage two.

that will all depend on how you drive. i think the best guy on here to speak to bout cbe would be silverwrx666. He has had a few mild to wild. drop him a line.

LOL, here it comes!!!

Seriously though.....loud to one guy is not loud to another, and so on and so forth. Go to youtube and search WRX exhaust or an exhaust manufacturer and WRX. Some manufacturers are HKS, TurboXS, Helix, Prodrive, SPT, Cobb, there are an assortment of Ebay cat backs for good prices that dont sound bad at all. There are some clips of different exhausts lying around this forum too. I will post a video of my car, but I have a full turbo back exhaust so its a little louder than just the cat back.

Use nasioc.com classifieds for exhaust. Going used with looking at good pics is the way to go. New suspension parts though, IMO.
