Does anyone know if the Perrin short throw adapter piece is any good or would i be better off with a Kartboy?

I've heard not so great things about the Perrin, and good things about the kartboy. I have a TWM in my 09, significantly shortened throw with a much better feel. Its not to notchy either. I've used TWM shifters in the past on other cars as well and there always top quality with an amazing feel. Allot of company's make there shifters overly short and sacrifice feel, TWM doesn't. They are perfectly balanced, and the best option for shifters in my opinion. And no, I'm not an employee of TWM.

I don't think they offer one for an 09, I'm sure they have some other ones available for dirt cheap prices. They usually do!

Thanks for the input. Shifter feel is a big deal for me and the stock 09 shifter feel is very lack luster, the throw is pretty far between gears. I had doubts to begin with about the Perrin adapter, a friend of mine years ago used a similar piece on his honda and it was sloppy, it would move, hit the console, and fall apart while driving. I am looking at the TWM now, seems very nice.
I've read good things about the TIC package. I plan on going with one when I get around to it.

You also have a 6 speed. That alone makes it sooooo much nicer that the 5 speed :unamused:
I had a kartboy in my old wrx and HATED how clunky it made the shifts. Plus it felt like i was destroying the tranny everytime i tried to switch gears fast. Took it out, it was almost like getting into a new car! Just not my cup of tea.

I used the perrin in two of my previous cars (08+10 WRX) and never had a problem. I set it in about the middle of the range given by Perrin. While it wasn't ridiculously short it did make quite the difference. I would say front and rear bushings made the most difference in the overall feel category.

I had a Kartboy short shifter for an RS in my Forester and it worked great, but my 6 speed definitely has a lot shorter throw to begin with than the 5 speed.

I considered th KB but I tried the DIY ST shifter mod and I love it. Cost me nothing.

i have the kartboy- its pretty good. I had a TWM in my tiburon- loved it, but you pay a price for that love when also getting a weighted knob...
