anyone seen the mendeola transaxles (http://mendeolamotors.com/trans-proto/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=47&Itemid=29)?
the 200hp one seems silly (even my ten geared one raced at 190hp), but they do have as far as you want to go.
they are building a transaxle for this amercian supercar (http://www.gtr-xs.com/) (photo of transaxle in the link)
good stuff.
10k worth it?
for the grade yes.. but for subarus intelligence missing.. no.(I really like some of subarus trannies)

incredible.
I was just griping about gearing missing, (I do that often) even for n/a american. I had my own into 160s casual.
that 300 will be body errors only...if any.
no excuse for lack of steel signals.. yet they play with the carbon fibers etc.
would be cool to find a suby version of the transaxle, on craigslist cheap. :)

I bet they suck for daily driving

you'd have to watch some of nelsons vids to believe what he has done with 2k hp and the street.
you would not even know it until it was gone out of sight. they aren't the rumble you might expect.
the mid 60s squared up chevelle (?) one comes to mind.
they even kept it looking factory, rally wheels etc. Very clever.
I hope to find that vid, I had it favorited.

here is a good one anyway

I never get tired of that video :)
That's one of my dream cars

that is a nice one.
I am not sure why the extreme..
one only has to be in the mid 30s or so and older to remember what 350hp did once upon a time.
it is not like today.
cool to see a won battle into the ricer realm anyway...
ever driven 2.73 final with a 4 speed and lockup convertor?
my friend who used to drive around with me said it best..
it is in an entirely different realm.
an exit and braking needs a mile and a half.
never ever just give hard throttle when you feel like it...too big for that.
the real 150 over some miles is something to experience...there is a momentum a .25 mile will never get...even if its 150 the race times into.
I have not figured that out yet. as if the car trained the wind... it needs more to stop than the drag racer doing the same.
anyway,
I like the thought of a transaxle company.
not that this went way off topic.
I'd even put the little sube into a .64 overdrive gear..
the .780 and 25.2 inch tread is clever however.

I enjoyed that video! Cept I'd build from a 69' Stang... But that's me cause it's a family thing. :)

69 stang...
weird build.
plenty of hood for normal engine the way it is.
I wonder what the yenko corvair equivelant would be today with a transaxle company present back then.
even yenko only got to 200hp or so.
the only flat six american ever, and it ran backwards. :unamused:
for giggles, stuff existing... a lycoming and that transaxle custom ... haha.

Turbo'd Aluminum 427 block and 6 speed either from one of the newer current chassis or a built to spec! :D Car's pretty usless unless you have a trans to match the use of the car! ;)
And I like point of bringing up an H6!

h6 has yet to be american...
I just watched a 1979 porsche for sale vid.37k miles.. that means air cooled..most likely carbed. some weird bosch ignition.
I am watching and listening. sounded like it was hardly doing anyhting.. rather quiet...some seconds go by...
the drivers speaks up and says, "This is 90mph in 3rd.":unamused:
I thought I had a little one worked into casual.. those just take the cake.
A simple downdrafted six and simple custom transaxle is quite a thought..
what a decent dream that would be. even porsche fights its way into vw weirdo battles over transmissions. they don't need to be complexly weird.

We take what we find and Americanize it! What's more Amrecian than taking a car and shoving more cylinders and then adding on top of that?! Cup holders!!!
But yeah even as restriction keep falling hard down on what they "let" us do just means that monsters like that beast in the vid will be made.
It's nice to see money invested into things like transmissions other than just "oh we just made it an automatic cause CVT's don't have the same driverraib loss and don't rely in a driver taking two seconds to learn how to drive a car to leave the dealership lot."
Don't get me started on paddle shifters... Can't stand them! I'm not in an Indy car with -5:1 steering rack!!!! I cross my hands and don't want to have to find a stupid paddle on the wheel!!! /rant. Side note my dad loves his paddle shifters in his 11' Outback... BTW I was not amused at the taking away the gear selector shifting... It's auto or paddles...

fyi. you should never be shifting mid-corner anyway. therefore yr argument about hunting for the paddle with yr hands crossed in a turn is irrelevant.

My point period is I don't hold 10&2 nor 8&4 no matter what so I don't like them.

the realities of transmissions has gotten stabbed.
the elongated one gear though a broad range took alot of engineering...todays crazy geared shifting is for set limits on racing.
when you sube guys mention straight cut.. I think your in a play pen more than reality.
The 80s sube is very smart there, alot of cars used to be.
even an auto could be 2 speed with 300hp.
it is embarassing to me sometimes listening in on "race car" builds.
keep the dummy lights out of the tranny like a dummy light to brake fluid..
back to basics. 10k for a transaxle is alot of oney, maybe if they bring the classic saab back, allow audi to be more sube...
or just a big car company choosing the design for themselves. all that could come down to earth in cost. Simply so.

still on subject, this was spotted at another forum...
awesome vid, guy is a real guru.. president of gear vendors overdrive.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AR9ZIca0TYE
His explaining why some trannies stay very broad range and the racers close ratio....
it is more than corporate fuel economy quests, it is for the comfort of all day driving...I still believe close ratio should be another realm, and racers have done that.
My little subes transaxle with the 1.59 reduction is like two in one anyway.
I loved his use of .78 for the overdrive.. that was subarus overdrive for many years. They hit the nail right on a world standard.
I'd do one. :)
for a custom transaxle, it would all be in one..
how to get a solenoid on a button to function the under /over while in one gear...
where can I get that?
:dunno:
