Who has them? What kind do you have? stand alone or carputer?

Stereos are important to me, and I am thinking of going the touchscreen route, it depends whatever I can get the best deal on.

that setup is sweet! is that kit just for an LCD display + the rack mount? or is an actual computer tucked away behind there? so you would need an amp too with that setup?

the JVC unit is the whole deal, its an AMP, CD/DVD player, and also an LCD screen w/ inputs in case i wanted to connect a GPS from a small computer.

No unfortunately that kit price is only for LCD setup to go for 12volts. But you can fit carputer behind it if you try.

its funny bc your car interface there is pretty close to what i want mine to look like. touchscreen + red dash lights + triple clock replacement gauge pod.

anyone having luck finding an authorized re-seller of the AVIC-D3?

the $200 rebate expires at the end of this month, I would probably like to pick one up if I can get it for under $500.

seems all those units are refurbs though :(

+1 on the alpine. like jack said, we've been running ours for a few months, and love them.

i have mine set with the dvd player (built in), by far the best ipod compatablity, i have it linked to go to my psp to use online abilitys (working on playing games), and i'm thinking of throwing in an inverter and putting in a nes or n64, maybe ps2 as well. i just feel so bad for my alternator, its terrible already and my system isn't exactly tiny as is anyways.

i got mine at a steal, but like jack said, you can find them for $600, maybe a little cheaper used.

they also just came out with the w505 and it is SICK!

I have the 06 LGT, so I dont know what the WRX's have in the spare wheelwell, but in a GT, there is a silver piece of styrafoam that sits between the spare tire and the top of the trunk floor, its about 8 inches thick and covers the whole spare tire opening. I removed that Styrofoam and replaced it with a piece of plywood cut to shape.

I have the PC mounted on that piece of wood(soon to be wrapped in carpet to match the trunk). I did this so I still retain full use of the trunk, and unless you were looking, you would have no idea there is a pc down there. There is a thread on SCS with someone who made a custom fiberglass enclosure to fit in the right side cubby, I like that idea too... just didnt have the motivation.


I am about 15% through making a walkthrough for the touchscreen bezel. That will go up on the SCS site as soon as I am done. It only cost me about $30 in supplies (if you dont count the surplus paint/primer/epoxy/sandpaper I now have), and about 2 weeks of sanding/priming/drying

Avic-D3 all the way, they can be had cheap...and do everything. I have the Ipod connector, XM, HD radio, BT unit hooked.....the music is endless :D

I actually just installed it last weekend haven't got the pictures off the camera yet....not that it would help you since its in an FXT but hey.

In my old LGT I build a box for the spare tire well....There should be enough air space for a shallow 10'' or a nice 8'' in the side if build right,
