projection tvs are off the past. plasma and lcds are hitting 61+ easy. LED is the future.

true, but honestly i don't give a damn about a 6-7 more inches thickness a living room tv. i really just don't. personally i am attrached to high contrast ratios, i think black level is so important in a tv and i can't stand the look of low contrast monitors bc of that.
plasma, lcds, led, oled, may be the future, but they can't match the specs & price (together) of rear projection DLP at the moment.

I hung my parents LCD screen for theyre home theatre system, 52" Sony, frame is relatively small, but the glass trum that went around the tv was HUGE. I like the low profile frames like that one. Samsung has some Awesome tvs and i think that is one of them!
Id still go with a projector if im going over 60. hehe

sorry to break it to u, the greatest contrasts are now found in dlp projectors (NOT projecxtion screens) and plasmas. both are getting to 20k:1 also, its not about the 6-7 inches. its about the 400$ bulbs u have to buy for rear projection every 3-4 years.
in the end. DLP projector on a 100" screen FTW!! u can come over if u want to check it out

lol. read my post. i specifically say DLP projectors.
good luck reading in the future.
as far as plasmas, they can compete contrast ratio wise, but not for cost really. that technology is still unstable enough so that they have smaller life spans.

DLP projection and DLP projectORs are completeing. reading may own me, but technical jargon owns you. :D
yes. i do really have a 100" screen that is projected on by a DLP projectOR.

DLP projection and DLP projectORs are completeing.
i'm not sure what this means, but i am up to speed on DLP's and the terminology/jargon. :D
a DLP projector creates a picture. this picture can be referred to as a DLP projection.
this image can come from an independent projector, projecting a projection onto a white screen such as one of these:
http://c1.neweggimages.com/NeweggImage/ProductImageCompressAll200/24-007-081-03.jpg
or the projector can be internal to the TV, projecting a projection to the inside of the TV. these TV's are often referred to as DLP rear projection TVs.
the newest/expensive DLP TV's actually use LED's as the illumination source, so they get around the bulb change nicely too.
either way, the fact that you have a 100" DLP - that makes me very envious, congrats on having a sweet tv. DLP FTW.

here is a very interesting article about how the market is shrinking for TVs 40-44"
this is probably the size that "most" of us can afford and fit in our living rooms.

dlp are pretty cheap for the size you get, when I got my tv I think its a 42" LCD I paid 1200, I could of bought a DLP 60" for 1400. The thing is the DLPs are like 7-8ish inches thick.
