Is anyone on here a roofer?

I did my parents roof this weekend and i'm beat.

I have a lot of respect for guys who do that for a living.....

I did my parents roof back when they lived in Londonderry. It was tough work, but not nearly the worse I've done when it comes to manual labor.

I think the toughest part was feet.

Standing at an angle for 8 hours a day does a number on the soles of your feet :(

Trick,

Nothing is worse then filling and moving sandbags

Ahh, condo living.....they replaced mine last summer.......I would not wanna do that stuff. Funny though I don't think one of the workers was taller then 5'6''.....I wonder if a lower center of gravity makes it easier...

I have worked for a builder for the past couple of summers and have roofed a couple roofs. Its way to much work, escpecialy because I end up doing all the lugging of the bricks.

Roofing is one of the many aspects of construction I have done.
Shingle, rubber, and even metal.

Not doing that any more, thankfully- it is one of the trades that helped wreck my knees.

The angle part of shingle roofs stinks, but worse is carrying 2 or 3 bundles of shingles up a 40' ladder at a time.
Not a fan of heights myself.

90lbs bundles of shingles suck.

It's like dragging around a middleschooler all day

I wont lie, I have roofed many times, and it does suck giant elephant testicles. Certainly no ***** to hard work here, and I still think roofing is for mexicans.

I roofed full time for a few years, doing almost two roofs a day with a three man crew. It sucked but it kept me in awesome shape. We used to race up ladders with two bundles at a time to see who could shimmy 20 up to the roof first. The crazy old guys always won.

Its just how it works. My boss is way older then me and he can kick my butt at it. I max out at a bundle and a half going up and he could do two semi easy. Old guys always win at this.

But, at least it was satisfying, next time let me know and I will help.
