Any hill climb plans.

Yes, I will be at Ascutney in two weeks, as long as I get a new tranny or fix mine. In any case I will drive that or someone elses rig.

I also am going to get my SCCA License next year and start road racing, starting to grow out of autocrossing. It's a good time but it's time to get to work on the original plan which is road racing and now hillclimbing as well.

I also have recently got an 07 WRX Motor thats going to be built with a VF37 setup, both of which I got from one original Seacoast Subarus member and another from a site sponsor (I believe)

I dont think I'll race in a couple weeks, but I plan on doing a hill climb in October.

Never saw that vid of Eric's crash. Ouch! Welcome back Terry.

It was actually Matt. Erik now owns a modified chassis that's getting a 4g63 and a t56 and staying rwd. No more autocross for him, he'll be running the hillclimb series and some road course events.

Gary, want to run the autocross program next year?

Just saw this. I'd love to, but I'm hurting for time as it is with the two munchkins and 50 hours of work. I'll try to come to some of the meetings though.

Can't wait to see what becomes of his monster? Will it be similar to anything from CTTC?

Thanks Wagoonus Maximus.

I am Terry Murphy of Terry Murphy's Court St. Auto's Son, yes. My dad owns the shop and I am there a lot of my day's off and weekends working on this turd.

Gaddis, no problem. Do you want it with the same components? I can price everything out for you if you want and give you a good discount as I got everything through my work, except for the AN fittings which I get from a local supplier, but they aren't cheap no matter where you get them. Let me know what you want to do, and I can modify yours a bit to make it a cleaner setup, mine was done in rush mode.
I did do quite a bit of body work but the car wasn't in very bad shape underneath. I cleaned the whole rear of the car when I had the enitre rear end out and resprayed that as well. Once I have time, which most likely won't be until winter, the exterior will be repainted a new color!

So the last 3 weekend were spent racing and it's been great! Finally got the speed sensor issue worked out, thanks to an R/C airplane electric motor with a stand alone battery and old reostat to control it! The car and myself entered into our first hillclimb and all I can say is that EVERYONE needs to try this out! It is the most fun form of racing I have done in my life, and it's coupled by an entire weekend of hanging out with some awesome people. You basically form a small racing community and everyone is cool as hell. Here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARK19tJbHtk) is a video from one of my Saturday runs, yes, the sound is off, I hate youtube. It was about 20 seconds slower than my fastest run, which of course I didn't capture (don't let your 60 year old father try to operate a gopro!). Anyway, I suggest everyone at least come check out a hillclimb and work it or just say screw it and come run, its a blast!

GeoffC8

I'm Jelly. That looks like a lot of fun. And the sound works on this end.

Murphy2012
09-24-2011, 01:41 PM
The sound works, but it's delayed, at least on all the machines/phones I have viewed it on.

Ah, I thought you'd meant that the sound was turned off completely. I did notice that the timing is off.

Not much to go over at the moment. The wrx motor is apart as far as its going to get for now. Have to double check my bores and order pistons, valves, springs, and retainers. Thinking possibly some gsc stage 1 cams, and a vf48. Still not 100% decided on the turbo but this is the front runner so far. I am also in the market for a 6 speed swap but it depends on how much money I can conjure up from now till April.
Cage work will start in Feb. planning on adding more door bars and a lot of gussets. The hillclimb series will be here before we know it.

Seraphinwolf
12-25-2011, 06:43 AM
So if you are wanting to run cable throttle body instead of DBW why not use the 251 intake manifold. Then you delete the TVG's too. Unless it's 00/01' manifold with air assist.... 02/03' one to have MAP for speed density tuning on the standalone.

Murphy2012
04-21-2012, 12:42 PM
Well, it's been quite a long time since the last update. The car has made some minor improvements over the winter but most importantly, it got painted and looks halfway decent now. I went with a flat red, something different and something that wouldn't clash horribly with the still stock paint engine bay. The mods over the winter were: Relocation of battery to trunk, Removal of spare tire well and patched with aluminum (Bead Rollers are awesome!), New dash setup, howe steering quickener installation, removal of ABS system and added a proportioning valve to the rear. I also added a rear JDM Bumper beam and made a customer front bumper beam, much more rigid and less than half the stock weight. Came out nicely! I finally found some 6 spoke RS wheels, with 4 layers of paint on them. Brought them back to aluminum, properly primed and painted duplicolor bronze. I decided to go with some 245-45/16 Hankook Slicks all year, until the other owner of the car insisted on some more 275 A6's as well, hard to argue with that! There is still more to go, which will happen slowly throughout this season, as well as the very slowly paced 2.5L turbo build. Might be a year or two, but it will be in eventually. Home ownership is on the horizon in the next two years so I need to spend some cash while I have it! Here are some pics, blast away!
