So,

Finally decided it was time to tell my insurance company I got a new ride. I am 23 yrs old. With the 06 TR sedan they quoted me $2500/yr. No accidents in history. No speeding tickets on record.

How does that compare? Who has the best rate here? (Obvi those of you who are over 25 get a much better rate, but what about the younger crowd?)

Who do you insure with? What is your yr/model and what is your rate?

Post!

Anthony

I've got an '07 WRX, turning 24 a week from today and I'm at roughly $1500 a year with Geico. No accidents, no violations/fines/points.

Does that mean I'd get charged at a 2.5rs/2.5i rate instead of a WRX rate ?

That doesn't hold true with car insurance. They're all scammers. Plus I paid more with State Farm and have had worse service then Geico which saved me more than a few hundred bucks a year.

u should call liberty. i pay 1100$ for my 05 outback. no tickets (on record with them).

they were probably 100-200$ cheaper than the rest.

geico's CS is notoriously bad. I can guarantee if you call Liberty Mutual, you will get an American call center, and quite likely one in your time zone.

its more affordable for younger people under 25 that have parents which are invovled in military federal or gov. BIG Discounts. I pay $500 full coverage on my subie. Gieco wants 1600, and allstate wanted 1800. I already shopped around.

Have fun with Geico... I was with them for my 2000 Cavalier and for liability/collision/comprehensive with $1000 I was paying well over 1600 a year. I then went to State Farm where I got better coverage with 500 deductible for 1100. And that was when I was 21.

I am now 23 and I drive a 2007 2.5i wagon, clean record (knock on wood), and I pay around 1400 year. When (and if) I go back to school full time, that will drop down to 1100 or so a year. My parents are paying half as much with State Farm as they did with Geico. In fact, Geico raised our rates every year, even with clean records! State Farm is convenient because you can have your premium automatically paid monthly through your checking account or credit card.

I think I'm going with liberty for my car and house in nh when I finally close on my damn house(don't buy a forclosed house lol)
I have AAA and I'm in mass and pay 2700 one speeding ticket when I was 17.

Geico is an evil company and has done more to restrict automobile usage and FUN than any other...
They are at the forefront of all the auto insurance lobby stuff that reduces speeds, adds fund-raising speed and traffic light cameras and otherwise tries to drive insurance rates up while doing nothing to help consumers...

I would not insure with them for any reason, whatsoever.

The above is purely MY opinion, and no, I am not going to look up all the links to back my statements up.
But the info is there if you go looking.

I certainly don't think less of anyone that uses them, of course- gotta do what you gotta do. :)

Perhaps I am the exception to the rule with Geico. Or perhaps it's because they have a seperate department for Military members. I've never talked to anyone that has any other then an americanized accent, my rates have only gone down (and will even more when Monday hits and I turn 24).

Of course I have yet to file a claim, but I've had 3 different car insurance providers (State Farm, Liberty Mutual, and Allstate), and all three are hell when it comes to making a claim. All three tried to stick as much on the consumer as possible and try to do as little as possible to make any of that process easy. I'm sure this is true with every insurance provider out there.

Auto Insurance, unlike other types of insurance, is very very very subjective. I can name a specific horror story told by someone I know about almost every provider. Some changed to other providers and swear by the new service they received, only for me to hear a horror story from a different person about the same company.

There are so many variables in Auto Insurance that you'll never hear consistent stories from anyone. The service you get depends entirely on your age, sex, race, type of vehicle, driving history (both accidents and violations), yearly income, credit history and method of payment (i.e. montly versus paying in full or 6 month intervals). With that many variables you'll never hear that one company is solidly better then any other company.

Subaru owners get 10% off your premium. That could be alot more than $150 for some of you.

talk to jack about getting hooked up,. his insurance doesn't know the difference between a wrx and a sti.

not true actually. here's the deal:

I have State Farm

Got in an accident about 4 years ago now. I had a 99LGT which I paid $7,000 for and insurance gave me $11,000 for the totaled car. After the accident, I started paying $3,000 a yr for insurance.

Post 3 yrs, I'm looking for a car this past summer. I got quotes from State Farm for the insurance. I get a safe drivers discount (violations / accidents expire after 3 yrs), and a good student discount. I am 20 yrs old. I was quoted $1500 for a WRX and $1800 for the STi. I pay $1800 a year now (goes up to $2400 a year with any violations) and this also covers all of the MODs on my car!

Overall, I love State Farm and I love the rate I'm getting for it! I've also dealt with their claims service when I totaled 4 yrs ago and was VERY happy with it.

ya i've never been in an accident, and don't plan on getting into any so i am hoping to get away with the cheapest option.

well i guess my car was in a slight accident once, when i had my vw the owner of the driving range backed into it and put a nice dent in my hatch, which he paid to have replaced.

nothing with me driving. yet. :knock on wood:

I'm paying $396 every 6 months so thats $792 a year... deductible set at $1000.

Funny story... I was insured by some a local progressive agent. I got a quote from progressive direct for almost half what the local progressive agent was charging me. So I obviously jumped on that offer and when I went to get reimbursed by the local agent she told me progressive direct screwed up and she was going to report me... I laughed all the way home.

I've got USAA I don't have to worry about anything!(cept I did get a ticket this year but I don't think they are gonna change my rate on me.) Those looking for something better than what you have(especially if you have gayco) let me know cause you either have to be military, family of, or invited to be a USAA memeber. I pay $80 and change a month for FULL coverage of the SVX.
