Car: 2011 WRX
Dyno: Dyno Dynamics (TCF 1.02 SAE)
Fuel: 93 octane
Temp: 72 degrees
Modifications:
-AP header
-FMS PW TMIC
-GS solenoid
-Walbro 255
-AEM intake
-C/L downpipe
Tune:
11.0 AFR
19psi peak
Conservative timing
BEFORE Street tune vs. AFTER dyno. This shows how much can be left on the table with a good street tune vs. a proper dyno tune. This car is sure a sleeper putting the hurt on alot of cars in Boston and doesn't make a peep. This car makes awesome power considering the stock rear exhaust holding it back. And most importantly on the extra safe side as some of you know how Ed drives  Once again Ed thanks for being a great customer!

Thanks to Bren and Hero (Motive's Garage) for making it happen. These guys really took the time to do it right. They also put up with my obsessive and annoying noob questions. Thanks for dealing with me and so often. The car is evil:devil:, and I couldn't be happier.
Next week Hero will be throwing in my new HTA-68 with 8cm Blouch hotside (ceramic coated) and DW 750cc injectors. Couple that with a Bren tune, holy shiznit, look out.
The pump is actually DW300 and the DP is an Invidia catted.

I am hoping to be in the 350/375 range when it's done.
Can't decide if I should ditch my stock Catback Exhaust.
I've been eyeballing the Agency power quad tip, just don't know if it's any good.
Also like the looks of the Invidia Q300 Quad tip.

Nothing wrong with Agency Power exhaust at all.... They make some real nice stuff. I would do it If u can... why hold back with getting the most outta that if u don't have to. The AP exhaust a real nice quality and have a good tone that's not overly loud on many cars.

Thanks man. I've had Hero install the exhaust for me as well. Great dude, him and Paul. After the tuned, the exhaust did got a lil louder (in a good way) sounding more mean and turning heads :spin:
Tip: The shop is located at the end of the street when you pull in on your right. Just look for a blue subaru in the driveway

Yeah I'm a fan of AP exhaust too, but after listening to the q300 exhaust, running catless, in person (thanks to gary) really changes ur mind instead of listening to countless videos on youtube.

How much do your street tunes run and how much is your dyno tune (including the cost for use of the dyno)?

Nice work! The Q300 is hands down the nicest wrx exhaust IMHO but I got the new 3" magnaflow quad tip for 515 shipped rather than 1000-1200 for invidia. Damn budget!

OK, at my current setup I am already tuned but I was curious for future reference.
If you need to know here is my tuning related mod list (I wont include suspension/brakes and other stuff that doesnt affect the tuning process)

Great numbers! What are you doing for a clutch?
MedWRX2011
10-23-2011, 12:16 AM
Got the Exedy Stage 1 in there now. No way the stocker will hold up to HTA68 power, or what I am making now really. Stock clutch just feels flimsy anyway. You can really tell the Exedy holds its' gears. It locks on real true. I want to go conservative to keep the transmission in tact as a I drive like a . Build should be finished by this coming Friday and hopefully tuned this coming weekend.

You know what else is awesome, that Q300, got it installed this afternoon. I've been rippin around Route 16 and Route 2 with it. Sounds awesome, people get the F out of your way with that thing. My only problem is the Whiteline rear sway, it's making my Q300 hang low, not sure what to do with the sway now.

So Hero, Paul, and Chris at Motive's Auto updated the ride a little since the last time, that and a fresh Bren Tune.
I ended up going with the HTA-68 with 7cm Hotside instead of the 8cm Blouch hotside. The fitment with the 7cm was just much better than the 8cm.
I also swapped my FMS TMIC for a real Process West TMIC and did a Perrin Equal Length Header as well as the Perrin Uppipe...these were swapped over AP UEL headers and Uppipe.
I must say there isn't anything wrong with the 7cm hotside on the HTA68. I am making crazy power. The final numbers were 343WHP/365Wtq...The tune was cut short due to that awesome weather we had on Saturday, so who knows how much better the numbers could have been. It's not all numbers though, let me tell you, the HTA68 will crap all over the VF52 all day long in terms of power and pull. You will feel a dramatic difference in power! It is night and day. Also, if you can get over losing your boxer rumble, EL headers are the way to go. My car feels like it has more top end power and is so much smoother all the way to redline. The car is more responsive all around.
Thanks to Motive's Auto and Bren. Just when I think it can't get any better, my mind is blown all over again.

Bren does, I would have to scan it, but the spool time is nearly identical to the VF52. I think the Perrin stuff really helped to preserve it. He did a comparison of the tunes while we were at Kaizen in Ayer. Just taller curves for the HTA68 and more top end power. Once the 68 spools, it's lights out. The Tach just blazes to redline.

It doesn't seem to spool faster. I am a bit surprised. Looks fun though.
MedWRX2011

No, the spool is pretty much the same, but the turbine inside is burly compared to the VF52. If I ever drop the block I will get cams, that will help with spool. When the HTA kicks in, it just takes off to redline, so much faster than the VF52. The tach is literally a blur. It's awesome. The difference is really night and day. You are always welcome to drive my car if you are on the fence about getting this turbo.
BG @ BrenTuning
10-31-2011, 08:17 PM
I want to drive it!
I'll tell you this while an IHI and MHI turbo may spool the same. The feel on an MHI based turbo like an EVO3 16g has much bigger rush "feeling" on turbo onset.

I will have to go for a ride in it sometime if we ever meet up somewhere. I have always been on the fence about what turbo to get. Just ask Bren how many random turbo questions I have sent his way. :D :unamused:

I can't tell you how many annoying, noob questions I have thrown at Bren and Hero about everything. I will say I fell in love with this turbo driving Hero's car. It's such a great street turbo, very useable for daily driving, just like the VF52, but it just has way more balls.

Thanks to Bren for the re-tune on the dynapack yesterday. We kind of got cut short at the last session at Kaizen due to inclement weather. Bren made some nice torque and a smoother powerband for me. Power comes on a lot faster now and holds on to redline. It feels better on the street and the highway. Job well done sir!
