Hey there, I'm trying to sell my 04 WRX to buy a new one and I discovered a boost problem. I'm getting an oscillation in my boost when I go over 10psi. It bounces between 5 and 15 psi. I'm pretty sure its my boost solenoid and I'm wondering if someone would let me swap out their good one to confirm my diagnosis. I'd like to confirm it before buying a new solenoid as they're something like $130! I'm in Vernon VT, but will drive to your location for the test.
Thanks
Tom

I think I have my stock one kicking around..... shoot me an offer and you can have it. It's from my 04 WRX and only has 30k on it.

I changed solenoid and that wasn't it. Now the car is making a whinning sound under boost. Maybe my stock BOV is going. Anyone have a BOV lying around that I could borrow to see if that's the problem. I just don't want to just start buying parts untill i'm sure what the issue is.

Check your turbo for excessive shaft play and also check for boost leaks.

Thanks for the suggestions. I would imagine checking the turbo for play would be somewhat of a chore. I think I'd like to eliminate some of the simpler possibilities first. Where and how do I check for boost leaks.
