Hey guys. I'm looking to replace a crappy old Sony home theatre system. I found a couple deals at best buy.

I want to rebuild my system this year. What do you guys think? I like those but do you have any other thoughts on what to buy?

Energy makes some nice speakers (for a Canadian) Those seem to be a decent deal, although I've never heard those particular ones. They're also pretty sensitive, so they don't need tons of power, but for floor standing speakers, I'd usually recommend 100W at least.

Are you gonna be gradually building up a surround sound, or just running stereo. That receiver wouldn't be my first choice, but it is a good deal. See if you can find an Onkyo, Yamaha, Denon, or Marantz if possible.

+1 to these four.

Spend the $$$ on a good amp, it will last you forever and sound spectacular. I've been running a Yamaha 5.1 amp that is at least 15 years old at this point and it is reliable as the day it came home to me as the second owner! Sweet, sweet sound too. I've matched the Yamaha with a pair of Boston Acoustics bookshelf speakers on custom stands with a very nice result. I'm a big fan of the Boston stuff. Regardless of what you get for main speakers, get a thumping sub. Even the best floor speakers can not match the bass of a quality, powered sub.

I bet that sounds nice!

I decided to skip on the stuff I orginally listed. The speakers I almost went for but they are too tall.
