My dad needed a new laptop, I shopped around and waited for thinkpads
to go on sale, got him a sick deal. I'm on the phone with him, entering in
his credit card info, when I get to the COUPON CODE field.

I think, there is no way, considering the sale (says I already saved $485
off the regular price, plus I got a free upgrade to 3gb ram) that I will
be able to get away with trying to enter a coupon in.

But Ill do anything for a buck, So I go to google and type "thinkpad
coupons" and click "I'm feeling lucky"... cause you know, I was :-)

first thing I see is a coupon code "USPGO4SAVINGS" 10% off all thinkpads
plus free shipping... I go back to my other window, type the coupon code
in, the page refreshes and I get another $128 off the price...

Its pretty cool when I already sold my dad on the great deal, then nock
another 10% off at checkout :-)

That coupon is good for another 4-5 days so enjoy!

In the end a $1,600 laptop costs $1,040 with free shipping

Disclaimer:

Thinkpads are no longer made by IBM. Do not expect IBM quality. Lenovo purchased their label and now is 100% made in china/taiwan.

Nothing wrong with the Chinese, just dont expect IBM quality. I would say Lenovo's are on par with Dells.

What is a thinkpad?
Is it like one of those cool sketcher machines?

Yeah... but you should add that disclaimer to most car manufacturers also:

Disclaimer, the BMW x3 is NOT made by BMW, it is made by Magna Steyr, a Canadian company in an Austrian factory
I doubt many people are not gonna buy that BMW for that reason

Where did you think IBM's were made before that?
incidentally... do you know how IBM made their fortune?!?

I am not sure where IBMs were made. I don't know any other computer manufacturers in china other than Lenovo.

I dont know how IBM made their fortune. Maybe their crays? Big Blue? lol

Much Much Much more evil than that....

They worked with a "superpower" who needed a custom built system to identify, track and destroy large amounts of "objects" very efficiently.
IBM rose to the challenge, and not only did they build the system, they leased it to this "superpower" so that they could continue to profit from it.
Then they offerend numerous suggestions on how to make it more efficient and increase its capacity. The whole while knowing exactly what the "objects" were and who the "superpower" was.

And for that reason, I am glad IBM no longer owns the thinkpad models...(cause I own one).... same reason I will never own a VW.... the HEAD of this same "superpower" asked VW for a specific type of vehicle, VW created the 'Bug'. Therefore the VW Bug is a design of this "superpower" (specifically the head)

No, I researched it, and I'm willing to believe that the core events are true.

But, if you continue his reasoning, then unethical to use technology simply because it can be misused.

Also, if Brad really believed all that he'd start researching all the companies that use IBM technology, and start a personal boycott.
