thanks to kgj996 for installing this.

Here is a breakdown we did it.

- remove the rear seat and support rails (depends on if you have a pass through or not for #of bolts) we found out in the middle of the install it’s -easier to remove the seat lol

- remove cover with Phillips head screwdriver.

-unplug electrical connection from sending unit and start the car until it runs out of gas.

- remove the vent, return, and supply lines. Use caution due to air/gas still in lines.

- use 8mm socket to remove sending unit.

-Then spin the fuel pump 270 degress clockwise wile lifting the sending unit out of the tank.

-Use a pair of pliers to remove the factory spring clips holding the fuel line onto the pump. Then when that is removed you can pull the pump out of the sending unit assembly.

-The kit is really not needed for the install but it’s nice to have a nice filter sock. Use supplied fuel line with kit to attach the fuel pump into new assembly.

-Then plug the stock electrical plug back into the new fuel pump.

-Then install new rubber footpad that holds the fuel pump into the assembly

-Next install new filter sock (note filter box is different on sti's compared to
wrx's.

-Check over all plugs and hose connections and your ready to install the new pump and sending unit.

-Next install sending unit along with the 8mm nuts and tighten.

-Then connect the vent, return and supply lines along with the electrical plug and then prime the fuel pump by turning the ignition on. Then start the car and check for leaks.

-Next put the cover plate back on with the 4 Phillips head screws and reinstall the rear seats and go take it out for a rip.

This was my first STI fuel pump and it was a little different from a 2.0 WRX, like the WRX has no box around the filter and there is an inline filter above the pump on the STI that the WRX has under the hood. This made the swap a lot tighter than on a WRX. This made it take a little longer, but it should take around 1 hour or less. I did my WRX pump in 30 minutes.

my pump came with an electrical plug adapter... i dunno what its for. And its not written on the instructions either. Looks pretty simple, i will try and do mine this saturday.

You don't use that plug. That's for a different application.

nice writeup guys, surprising how different the STI sending unit/pump is compared to the WRX, mine looked 100% different.

You should see the Legacy's :spin:

You have to cut, or melt.... ok you have to melt  the bottom to fit the new pump in the case :spin:

I'd rather do 3 DP installs than one legacy fuel pump install

considering i am the first one to figure out the legacy 255 retro fit while keeping the stock "sock", its not a bad job at all.
