Dead? Works intermittantly? Mine too, until recently. Seems the '98 and newer dash/overhead clocks have been croaking pretty consistently.

Pull your clock out(CLOCK! Not...uh...) and remove the lens. You should see three resistors soldered to the circuit board, two labeled 300, one labeled 510. Seems Subaru used shat for solder for a while, and the 510 resistor is prone to overheating. On my clock, the 510 was hanging by a thread, and simply pushing it back into place would have it working again until I let go. From the pics I've seen, many of the solder joints tend to corrode until they look like cottage cheese, or simply crack, like mine. Break out your soldering iron and throw down some new beads on all resistors. It should work again.

Simple, effective, and probably old news, but easy enough for any novice. Pics to follow, hopefully.

They are right above the two main heat vents. So hot cold hot cold hot cold. I can see why they fail.

Seems like that may have something to do with it, though mine is located up on the headliner over the rear view mirror.

I swapped mine with a $10 NESIC used special, but the solder-mod fix it method is a good one.

I just use the clock on my Alpine. I have some nice gauges were my clock once was.
