View Full Version : Why having a Dog in the house is pertinent

Two puppies saved a 3 year old boy from freezing to death when he escaped from his Babysitter to take the puppies on a walk. Long story short, the kid and the two dogs were missing for 21 hours...the child was found with the puppies wrapped around him keeping him warm. Weather hadnt been over 20 degrees while he was missing. Article can be found here. (http://www.nydailynews.com/news/us_world/2008/12/07/2008-12-07_puppies_save_threeyearold_boy_lost_in_fr.html) This, IMHO, is why EVERY house should have a dog in it. They protect their families, regardless.
Edit: Before it comes...yes...the babysitter I am sure is fired and very irresponsible!

My Parents have a 180lbs German Shepard/Mastive mix.
You go near my mother and he'll tear you to shreds.

Ya, my friends uncle had one, they are awesome. I have a german shepherd/lab mix and an irish setter. Love them both. They both have some of the best personalities I have seen on dogs (i think a lot has to do with the owner) and are loving and caring to anyone. But, once they sense a family member is in danger, their swith flips, fast.

My dog would see a squirrel and run off.

You're assumption that members of this dicotomy are less than astute is misplaced and fallacious.
You should cogitate about what you are verbalising before you verbalise it, so that you don't sound so obtuse.

didn't have the energy to read all the post:) but had there been no dogs the kid would have been inside and have had no danger of being lost outside.
I am undecided at this point about dogs. having grown up with animals and being attacked by dogs to the point of needing emergency room visits. I think if ppl want they can always find good things about needing anything really. its a crap shoot.
to each there own.
cheers

Agreed. I don't see the need for Dogs. Like an expensive kid that pisses on your stuff or ****s in your house.

this thread is exhibiting a tremendous propensity towards frivolity. but i digress. ergo i propose the aptness of this thead to regain focus, effectively alleviating this predisposition.
can we make a thread where all we do is talk like this?

I need thesaurus then.
when I stop moving around every 6 months I acutally wouldn't mind getting an english bulldog. for their ugliness driving cuteness. as long as I could deal with the drool.
