Im no technician, but im pretty sure its a completely different transmission, since the front axles are different, aka non-interchangable. Also, I believe you need the AWD rear subframe, rear suspension, and possibly gas tank. That would be on top of the AWD transmission, driveshaft, rear diff, and rear axles. Hope that helps a little.

Sorry guy. I looked into a little before I got my first impreza, because there were mostly AWD automatics, but alot of FWD 5speeds. I ended up buy a well maintained automatic, then just continued to look for a sweet 5speed, which I bought a few weeks ago. For the price I paid, it would probably be cheaper and easier to just find an AWD to start.

Oh, you can. But unless its like a really clean chassis, or really low miles, or has a bunch of sentimental value, I found it wasn't worth it for me.
I don't want to be one of the guys telling you to sell your car and buy a better one though, I hated that when I bought my automatic sedan (still have it).

you would need transmission, driveshaft, rear diff, axles, hubs, suspension, rear crossmember, gas tank, etc. It would be easier and cheaper to just sell the car and go buy an awd one.
