So I'm sure you've all heard by now: Subaru has elected to pull out of WRC. Soldberg and Atkinson will not be competing in 2009 due to financial strain on Fuji Heavy. Soldberg has been engaging in talks with the president of Fuji Heavy, hopeful of continuing his participation in WRC racing for this coming season.
There has been an update as of Sunday. The president of Fuji Heavy has decided to allow Soldberg's contract with Subaru to end. What does this mean? Although Subaru has pulled out, Soldberg should be racing in the 2009 WRC. With what car manufacturer? This is yet to be determined.
Overall, this has been very depressing news for me, as I'm sure it has been for all of you. I love watching Subaru rip up the rallies and although I'm happy Soldberg will be able to continue to race, it will be very sad seeing him sit behind a car not made by Subaru!
