And preferably free. I'm a cheap ****er and I realized I've never really explored Boston at all. And I've lived in this state for quite a long time, too. Probably not going to go until spring, and probably going to take the bike. That means parking isn't really an issue :keke: But might as well start planning now. It's what I do.

I was just there this weekend. If you are looking for a neat place for dinner: The Living Room (www.thelivingroomboston.com)on Atlantic Ave. The serve warm pretzels instead of bread and you can eat for anywhere from $10 and up.

Pretty cool bar: Clarks (near Fanuiel Hall)

Definitely check out Fanuiel Hall anyway...

ah. well, it looks like snow on sat night. are you staying at the doubletree on storrow dr/soldiers field rd? hmm...thats near me! :)

anyway, i don't recommend fire and ice. i mean, it's good, but not great. there's one in harvard sq and another in the backbay area. i'd walk around in the commons (possibly ice skating if thats your thing on frog pond). faneuil hall is probably a must and you'll be close if you're at the NEA. plus, lots of good bars/restaurants around there.

if you're into beer, try sunset grill in allston/brighton. it's on brighton ave. (corner w/harvard). take the green line (the B is best) and get off the harvard ave stop. walk N 1 block to brighton ave and bang a right. it's right there. they got like 300 beers and 100 on tap. and pretty good food...excellent sour cream and chive fries! FTW.

even walking around the prudential center (go to top of the hub for a drink) and copley is nice if it's terrible outside. nice views of boston.

just take the redline (from alewife) down to park and get off! pretty simple. you can do stuff around downtown crossing.

if i wasn't busy tomorrow or sunday i'd love to show you any of you guys around. boston is a great place.

I hate to admit it but Duck Tours can be pretty cool. Depending on the driver you get, they usually share some pretty cool stuff (although I'm remembering it's a little expensive...$30ish?)

I wouldn't recommend it this time of year. Summer or Fall would be much better.

Fanuiel hall = tourist center of the city. Unless you like that stuff + corporate chain stores etc, I'd spend minimal time there.

I do like the North End a lot. It's nice to walk around. Giacomos is a must if you like Italian (there will be a line outside even if its -12 degrees and every other restaurant is empty). The living room is a cool little lounge too if it's not busy.

If it's warm, sometimes walking around financial is nice if you're not from the city. When with my female, I like stopping by Postal Sq (http://photos-f.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v374/240/20/6904255/n6904255_33936461_9245.jpg) on the weekend if I'm passing through.

Walking around the Public Garden is always a nice free thing to do, and maybe wander to Newbury St. there to watch the ... 'parades'. From there you can swing up to the top of the hub (50th floor of the prudential) to get a 360 glance at the entire city.

Then I'd head into Cambridge's Central/Harvard Square or up to Davis Sq for some good down to earth dive bar action.

Yea, I could go on for another hour.

Dicks last resort is a good chuckle. I almost got tossed out of there for throwing crab legs at the waitress and telling her to pour me another ducking beer... (I was 18)
